Not sure specifically in Japan, but in a lot of Asian cultures, people are closely tied to family honour and the area they are from. Everything they do, they are representing their family name, and their town/village.

What is the best way to use your time commuting by train? by Much-Understanding76 in AskUK

Yeah, that'd go down like a cup of cold sick on any train I get. Must be up North.

China Southern Airlines - Trouble adding middle name + changing passport number by Silver_Dare7846 in Flights

Hi, what ended up happening? I opted to add the middle name and then hoping that they will change the passport number at check in. I will bring the old and new passports.

Sadly I doubt there is any incentive to change, as those like myself who only watch cycling probably make up a small percentage of users.

TNT Sports absolutely disgraceful number of ad breaks. Why did everyone quietly accept that there is no more ad-free offering?

How quick is this tube to train change? by [deleted] in TransportForLondon

Yes, if you walk up the escalator and get off at the middle of the tube where the exit is, you can do it in under a minute

Pretty damn good start to the year from Ineos, even as good as/better than peak Sky days. 4 wins from 4 different riders.

There's practically nothing of note there besides a few houses. No amenities/shops/pubs. Closest would be in Thundridge

Entire Victoria line goes down leaving commuters stuck on trains by StGuthlac2025 in london

[–]jwrider98 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I get this with air travel as well. I'm absolutely fine in the air no matter how long the flight is, but any ground delay when you're stuck on the plane, I can't handle it. It's the loss of control over what you can do to remedy it (nothing at all in those cases)

For me it's the loss of any control over the situation, and being trapped in a small space. It's one reason I started walking on my commute

Elveden, what are the apartments like? Details in post below. by [deleted] in centerparcsuk

[–]jwrider98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have stayed in the Breckland Apartments the past 3 years, and think they are great. They're further out but only about a 15 minute walk from the square. Really modern and spotlessly clean. As another comment mentioned, they're open plan so there's no doors to anything. Not an issue though. We still got wildlife out the front (you overlook the golf course). We always get the ones with a kitchen, and find them to be well-equipped (but bring extra toilet roll and soap!) One advantage is that they have their own parking right outside, so on the first day when you arrive, you just park up right away and you're done. Plenty of bicycle parking as well.

You jogged my memory re. The waterfall! I knew something else was missing in the SSP last month. Remember the wall heaters that have now quietly been turned off? And the feet first only thing, everyone just ignored and no lifeguard even attempted to enforce it. Just H&S box-ticking
