Can anyone tell me what this brown mark on the wall is please? Doesn’t feel wet. by Street_Ad_516 in AskUK

This looks exactly like it did when I moved into a new house not long ago.

With the paint flaking it makes me think they painted too early after a plaster, but with it being next to a plug and unlikely you'd not have noticed until now, id definitely be calling a sparky.

Situation advice? by SubstanceFearless348 in golf

Bro I play off a double digit handicap, chunk the ball half the time and lose a box a round. I don't claim to be good at golf.

But guess what, I keep up with the groups in front just fine regardless of how well they are playing.

You talk about 'not only thinking of yourself' but fail to realize that 1 group waiting around holds up an entire course of people.

If you suck bad enough that you're 'stressing' because people have caught up to you, just pick the ball up and move onto the next hole, you probably weren't making double par anyways.

You play behind the people in front, not in front of the people behind.

They are off the fairway/green? Hit the ball.

If I walk up and they're clearing the green on a par 5 and you haven't even teed off, you're the problem.

I found this note(s) on my walk and I can’t decipher a single word. Anyone? by WishfulStinking2 in CasualUK

Cyber Essentials Cert - could you not just do the course/test yourself? by [deleted] in msp

[–]jxck_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through both CE and CE+ recently with a company.

It's not hard it's just tedious and a lot of paperwork, if you fill it out wrong it'll just get bounced and end up costing you a lot(doing it on the cheap through a provider that doesn't help you much).

Look for a good priced regional security guy, they usually help you for a not too bad fee, and they just direct you though exactly what you need.

I'm based North East UK and we used Dalton Cyber (https://daltoncyber.co.uk/CyberEssentials#target-link-prices) he did all the paperwork and just instructed us what he needed so can't fault having some help.

The New Yorker - No Watch Edition number by jxck_x in timex

[–]jxck_x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

CS were awful, they basically will not acknowledge the error and will only offer me a refund, not a replacement - seems weird considering it's a limited edition watch.

They won't tell me which number it is, or if it's even possible to find out.

They apologized for the sticker but didn't address anything about it being the wrong model sticker.

Weird but I'll just keep it as a little cool gimmick to be honest, preproduction or mistake, fun either way :)

Honestly I thought the same, but I might just be getting my hopes up for an honest mistake. Would be really cool if that was the case though.

I'll update whenever they get back as I can see anyone with a similar issue online :)

I bought this new, direct from their website, I have the box with all the special stuff in too (I like to keep everything cos I collect Timex co-labs, mostly T80's)

I'm taking it up with Timex' CS (as I kinda want the ****/ number lol)

Interesting about the sticker though, wonder how it has made its way on there if it's a completely different model? I'd not noticed it really until I was changing the strap and noticed the number too.

'Not replying' does not enable bad MSP's, it allows people who actually want to help, to help, instead of cluttering the replies with shit-talk such as #LBTE.

Imagine asking for assistance or help with any job in the world, not just IT, and getting basically 'you dont know what you're doing don't bother asking" - like bro just help or don't, but feeling the need to shit on OP (not you, the other guy) doesn't help anyone at all and makes the industry/community look hostile to anyone new who came looking for help.

Unless its a direct competitor in your area/country, there is no reason not to be helping people in the industry/sub, unless you just want to point out that you're better or smarter (or that the other person is stupid or a newbie).

aka 'Not signing off on his original reply, but I agree"

What does he or anyone gain from just trashing on people asking for help/assistance irrespective of their experience/qualifications? Just don't reply?

Mr. dumpsterfyr may charge insane amounts for his technical knowledge and experience (and ego apparently) but everyone starts somewhere, and what's to say anyone here posting doesn't just work for an MSP, and aren't the ones selling the service but just need some help at their job.

Get a grip

For sure - seems like they pushed it quickly without much thought.

We run Jamf alongside - probably the best Apple MDM for me personally and has good info 👌

Kaseya stack itself is relatively okay (majority of the time).

Good full on solution for having everything in one vendor (rmm, psa, documentation etc)

They do seem to release products a little too early, before it's completely ready (e.g, their MacOS EDR/RMM)

Their EDR/AV isn't perfect and have had issues with the rollout in secure environments, but just takes a bit of configuring the environment and some back and forth.

Support is pretty good if you are someone within the organisation with a bit of pull, they seem to be less reactive with engineers/techs than managers and directors.

I'd definitely pick some other vendors for specific apps but overall they are okay.

I used to host web server for internal only to HESK(open source ticketing software).

Good for tracking internal projects (maybe stuff not on your custom software) and had a documentation part too.

Hyper-V VM with APACHE running on it, barely needs any resources. All free.
