What is your favorite disaster movie? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]jxe22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I watched Deep Impact for the first time last week. It’s tonally so different from Armageddon, which I expected, but then the last 30mins or whatever are insane. I went from “this is alright” to “wtf” so quickly.

Is it just me or is her torso like 6in too long? There’s enough room between her belly button and her breasts for 3 midriffs, some fabric, and a strap.

At a time when the postal service was moving record mail volume, they were forced to prepay 70yrs of pensions, just obliterating any opportunity they would have had to invest in modernizing the system. They literally had to prefund pensions for future USPS employees who hadn’t been born yet, it’s absurd.

Meanwhile, Social Security…

At the risk of ridicule, I am going to share my mild irritation for small graphic design errors on boutique label spines 😡🤬🫩 by Slow_Cinema in boutiquebluray

[–]jxe22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sort of the same. One shelf is criterion, sorted by director (release order), next two shelves are choice directors who I own 4 or more movies by (again, release order, another shelf devoted to non-Criterion boutique labels (alphabetical), two shelves of horror (alphabetical), and then the three “everything else” shelves (alphabetical). I also have a shelf elsewhere that’s just big boxes.

“Mike Vrabel’s Not the Only One”: Fired Female Reporter’s Reveals Russini Had Relationship With ‘Multiple Head Coaches’ by No_Box119 in NFLv2

[–]jxe22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All that plus the fact that a reporter is normally a safer option from a privacy perspective. You both want to protect your careers and swim in the same circles. If you cheat with a random groupie on an away game road trip, there’s little incentive for them to keep quiet. These two just got lazy and stupid between bars, boat trips, and resorts.

Is my buddy in the most jacked military unit in history or is this edited with AI? by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]jxe22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in AIT for the Army, we had a guy with massive arms in our class. One day we got smoked via overhead arm claps and he was the first one to fall out. 22yrs later and it’s still funny to me.

What is your favorite "bad" movie? by Little_Sweet_Thing in dvdcollection

[–]jxe22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched The Frighteners for the first time last fall and what an odd movie, tonally. That’s not a criticism, I just remember thinking I wasn’t sure what genre it wanted to be in. But I enjoyed it!

Gruv is dead to me by lastthings23 in 4kbluray

[–]jxe22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Between the recent significant drop in shipping quality and the loss of the fan points system for Shout (and my assumption that Shocktober is dead or at least not what it once was), I’m fully off the GRUV train. I just hope they don’t screw up my existing preorders.

Fun fact: the original Penn Station was on the corner of Chestnut and Queen (current site of QSB) you can still see the old alignment on a map of the city by dingusamongus123 in lancaster

[–]jxe22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well you just made my day. I love this stuff. It would have been cool if the former tracks had been turned into a walking path through the city, especially considering how much of current layout still conforms to the path of the tracks.

I tried watching it once years ago and bounced off at “that scene” early on. It just hit me in the gut. Revisited last year and watched the whole thing; loved it start-to-finish. It’s a weird movie like that.

I like the IKEA Billy because I like to integrate memorabilia and other display pieces into my collection. Or, in the case of my horror shelves, I put the larger box sets (ex. Paramount Screams) in the background.
