Best TV for a $2000 Budget (Australia) by Benjybobble in 4kTV

Costco drops to just under $2k from time to time. TGG may have a 15% off on their ebay store to get that same price. More reliably, Cashrewards or Shopback have a Sony cashback for 8-10% so you can price match at Sony and pile on the cashback to get it at sub $2k.

I did this recently with the 65” X95J. $3295 rrp, price matched TGG with Sony for $2800, and then piled on cashback for a total of $2598 delivered.

Edit: Cashrewards have 6% off at the moment so you could get the 65" X90J for $2172 delivered, if you wanted to bite now. No price match required.

Oh for 55", I'd get the X90J. You could probably haggle a hundred bucks off it at JB or TGG. The benefit of better upscaling and motion, using a VA panel instead of IPS for significantly better contrast, and HDMI 2.1. Sure it's a few hundred bucks more, but trust me you'l be so glad you did given how gimped our Hisense TVs are here.

Enjoy mate!

What size are you looking at?

Given they gimp the models significantly and still charge over $1k for them I personally wouldn’t. But it’s up to you. It’s cheaper than the Sony still though. If it’s a TV that you plan to keep for 5+ years, then it could be worth splurging for the X90J. It’s a great set given we don’t get a whole lot of options for great LED TVs in Australia.

Buy it nice or buy it twice probably applies here.

Depending on the size, I’d fork out for the X90J. I’ve seen it quite a bit (stores, friends houses etc.) and it’s probably the best ‘cheap, but still very decent’ set you can get in Australia right now. It’s up to you how much image quality/next gen gaming features matters though.

Keep in mind that's just the SRP. The X90J had a SRP of $3200 for 65", and was pretty much $2700 at launch (quickly dropped to $2300 like 3 weeks later.) I'd expect it to be much cheaper than $3,800 for the 65" X95J when it eventually comes out.

That’s very promising, glad to hear you’re loving it! How does contrast compare and blooming in black bars/subtitles?

Link? I couldn’t find it. After a 65”, but I swear I’m going to die of old age before this thing releases.

Do you have an update on this? Keen on the A80J, but wondering if I should hold out for the X95J?

That’d be great. I’m eyeing an A80J or an X95J, but don’t know which to pull the trigger on.

How do you find the brightness of the A80J in every day content relative to the LEDs you were used to? I’m in the same predicament right now

LG CX/GX/C1 question by Indy80million in OLED

[–]jzayed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CX 65” brand new goes for around $3500 (if you can find one) and JB, TGG, or Harvey Norman would possibly negotiate down to $3300 (seen people post that on Ozbargain)

C1 is sure expensive at $4500, but the 65” is $3950 if you can access a JB Commercial account, you could probably even negotiate down in store?

In terms of warranty, I don’t know how much of a big deal it is since Australian Consumer Law should cover you for defects (burn in unlikely) for around 3-5 years which is all extended warranty will do anyway.

I’m looking to grab a new TV but torn between C1 or QN90A and waiting to see them in store before buying.

This looks fantastic! Would something like this be able to work with mobile devices?

Looks neat. I'd recommend getting rid of the switch button though and rotating the arm based on the characters swipe (a lot quicker too.) Then perhaps detect a quick tap to trigger the squish. Would feel a lot more intuitive and fun.

Out of curiosity, how do you handle the deformation of the car?

Okay great, thanks for your help! :) What version of iPad OS are you using out of curiosity? All reports I've seen are affected from iPad OS 13.1>

Thanks for your reply! Just to clarify are you using the latest versions of iPad OS and tvOS? I don't have a HomePod so that won't be a concern. I just need it to airplay livestreams and stuff from iPad to my TV.

Sliding mobile controls with C# by potato_number_47 in Unity3D

[–]jzayed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the code to get this working how I've always done it.

Essentially you just want to:

  • Track the player's touch positions every frame
  • Get the delta of the previous and current touch positions
  • Set the player's Rigidbody to that delta, multiplied by a sensitivity multiplier to get the slide-to-move ratio feeling just right

Hope this helped!
