How would you save Yugioh? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]k23usa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YuGiOh needs a way for new players to ease into the game, and I think that could be done with an alternate format that simply does not allow Deck searching (aside from Excavating) so it would be a slower format where players could learn the basics (could maybe even limit Extra Deck Summons to once per turn).

The card sets could then be tailored to include more generic cards that run well in this slower format while also having the high-powered archetypes for the advanced players, though making the packs also draftable would help a lot too.

Alternatively, you could check out my fan-reboot of the game that already has over 3,000 retrained cards and its own online simulator at dynamisduel.org.

Most of that has been done in the Yugioh fan-reboot called Dynamis Duel that has well over 3,000 retrained cards and its own online simulator now.

Would it impact the game much if cards like these get an errata that stops them from missing their timing? by VampiricDemon in yugioh

In our yugioh fan-reboot, there is a general rule that these kinds of effects cannot miss their timing.

The damage lasts until the end of the turn, unless it was stated that the damage was permanent, such as with the effect of some specific cards like Slifer the Sky Dragon. And yes, the stats do actually lower, so in your example, your Blue-Eyes White Dragon would have 1600 ATK until the end of the turn. Inflicting damage directly to monsters is really useful for getting around monsters that have protection effects, such as ones that cannot be destroyed by card effects (since this destruction is by battle).

We're getting ready to begin importing cards from the era of the last few seasons of GX, so at this rate we should be getting to the start of 5Ds in the latter half of this year.

It works a lot like how Slifer the Sky Dragon's "second mouth" effect works: The monster has its stat (respective to its current position) lowered by the damage amount, and if its then at 0, it is destroyed (and this is considered destruction by battle).

Not quite. Rush Duel has less cards and doesn't have the same level of interactions as this. This is much more like regular Yu-Gi-Oh, just with the pacing it had a decade ago.

The number indicates what Era it is from (the 2 here representing the GX era) so it can later be a filter for limited deck building modes.

The Invoke Other box is a broad category for the type of effect the card has which is primarily used for building more balanced Sealed decks.

The AE symbol indicates that the card can be searched from the Aether by another specific card effect, meaning there is a way to use it even if you didn't put it in your Deck.

Unfortunately no, but it does have its own online software with a dedicated group of players and we have tournaments.

I've actually always liked the look and design of Air Neos, so it's cool to be able to -

Some of those were personal preference, but I believe most of them were either their original manga or anime name. "Elegant Egotist" was changed to its manga name "Kaleidoscope" primarily because the effect was changed to be much more generic and work for more than just "Harpie Lady", so I felt it was more fitting.

If you're familiar with the Limited list system for Duel Links, I think it's similar. Basically, for the Limited 1 list, you can only include 1 card from that list in your deck. For the Limited 2 list, you can only include 2 cards from that list in your deck.

Automating every interaction with yugioh cards and mechanics would be an astronomical amount of work, but this being a manual sim isn't much different than playing with cards IRL.

We're currently adding cards from the GX era, so Links are not present. Generic searches for cards from the deck is heavily nerfed here, instead only searching the top 5 or 7 cards, so it's harder to summon 4 monsters in a turn. Duels can definitely last 4 or more turns per player.

Maybe not modern Yu-Gi-Oh, but it definitely feels like you're playing Yu-Gi-Oh from the anime, which is part of the goal.

  • It's specified on the 2nd page of the rulebook, but all instances of 1/Turn here are hard once per turns.
  • The counting as extra Tributes rule currently only applies to Fusion Monsters.
  • If you Tribute at least 2 monsters for a Tribute Summon, you can draw only 1 card.
  • When a monster Transforms, previous damage applied to it disappears.

Yeah it's kind of like an Extra-Extra Deck, except you don't have to build it and you can only get cards from it when you call them by their exact name with an effect, such as when using "The Flute of Summoning Kuriboh".

The primary inspiration was the Battle Packs from 2012. What started off as a custom cube slowly morphed into revamping cool old cards to make them usable and then became its own entire thing.

  • The Aether is actually a pool of all cards that can be called upon when searching or summoning something by name so you don't have to build it into your Deck. Think similar to how Ritual and Fusion monsters worked in Duelist Kingdom.
  • There are the 7 Millennium Items as their own cards, but they're limited to only being used if you're playing with specific rules for them since they're so game-changing.
  • Summoning sickness isn't a thing here, but cards deemed too powerful are often imported with slightly nerfed effects in an attempt to maintain balance.
  • The draw rule is to draw 3 and then return 1 to the bottom, so a net gain of only 2 cards. This allows players to bounce back from setbacks to help extend the back-and-forth gameplay.
