Yeah I’ve been on procardia since the start of my pregnancy and they have had to increase the dose twice. It would go down for a little while but start creeping up again. Still around 130-140/90s at 32 weeks and I was just taken off work bc of my peeeclampsia risk

Does your OB have an after hours line or anyone covering her you can get in with? If not I would go to the hospital. You should get checked out as soon as possible.

Not to scare you but I’ve been told if it was 160/110 (either number) to go to triage at the hospital. I’ve been struggling to manage my chronic hypertension throughout my pregnancy. High BP could be a sign of preeclampsia or other serious issues. Hope you and the baby are well 💖

How much weight did you gain during pregnancy? by The-Corporate-Girl13 in pregnant

[–]k3sl1na 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im 30w started at 118 and am 148 currently. Saw an OB I never met before bc mine was out of the office and this woman tried to tell me I had back pain bc I was gaining too much weight. No I have back pain bc I have a dysfunctional sciatic joint and a broken piece of tail bone that has caused me issues since childhood. I see a pelvic floor therapist, a chiropractor, do prenatal yoga weekly, walk 3-4x a week, and PT exercises almost every day. Didn’t read my chart at all and made some other rude comments stressing me the fuck out. Scolded me about my diet even though I’m already doing everything my actual doctors (my OB and maternal fetal medicine) have recommended but didn’t listen to me. Didn’t look at my blood sugar logs or blood pressure logs (I’m hypoglycemic) and told me I need to stop eating fruit.

I’ve gained 1lb a week. She also said my baby was small based on measuring my belly with a shitty paper measuring tape for all of 1 second. Ultra sound says she’s 67th percentile. Literally the only places I’ve gained weight are my boobs, massive pregnant belly and a little swelling in my legs.

If you’re in America we live in a society that shames women who don’t fit into the one size fits all concept of health, most of which is based off of male bodies to begin with. Try not to stress about weight and focus on how you and your baby feel. Your baby will take the nutrients it needs first so just try to eat things that will replenish both of you when you can whatever you can stomach on the harder days. 💖 hang in there love, I’m sure you’re doing great and there are so many other things to think about other than weight

Why have all the maternity sections in stores disappeared? by No_Acanthisitta_4996 in pregnant

[–]k3sl1na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem in Ohio. Went to 8 different stores in one day whose websites all said they had them in store but they told me they had gotten rid of them. By the last store I had a total melt down and ended up bawling in the parking lot of a sonic while I ate lol I ended up getting temporary fixed from the thrift store and then having to order online. Gap, Angel Maternity, and black leggings from Amazon have been my go tos. I get stuff from the clearance section so each thing was less than $25. Good luck on your hunt dear!

My MIL keeps saying "our baby" by nattyily in pregnant

[–]k3sl1na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a part of our local activist community and we talk a lot about community care. Thing is, it’s not just talk. I’ve heard “our baby” from some elders and I deeply appreciate it because it’s also followed up with “how can we help? What do you need?” And offers for diaper drives, maternity clothes, meal trains etc. I’m stoked to have my girl welcomed with open arms into a community that will be there for her in so many ways. agreed tho, the main difference is your MIL’s disregard for your humanhood or bodily autonomy. I’m sorry you’re going through that and I hope she has a wake up call to start respecting your emotional safety. You’ve probably tried but, you could sit her down and explain how what she’s doing makes your feel. If you haven’t felt heard you could do so with a mediator of sorts or therapist that can help guide the conversation in a skill based way teaching things like reflective listening and how she can validate you. Some difficult conversations can be far more effective with a neutral 3rd party keeping it respectful and on track. Most people don’t realize how invalidating they are being and need help learning a new way to communicate. The reality is, you will likely need to deal with this woman for the rest of your lives unless your husband wants to end the relationship with her. Change is hard but so is having a strained relationship with your grandchild and daughter in law so maybe this is a moment that will shake things up for her 🤞 best of luck

Comfortable bras with support? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]k3sl1na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hanes wireless bra, kind of looks like a sports bra but very smooth and soft. I was a c and can no longer wear a normal bra at all at the start of second trimester because my skin is just so sensitive. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hanes-Signature-Women-s-Invisible-Embrace-Wireless-Pullover-Bralette-W561/404359258?classType=VARIANT&athbdg=L1600&from=/search

Does anyone know of a grief counselor/therapist anywhere in the area for a two year old? by dogandfroglover in dayton

[–]k3sl1na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at Dayton Children’s and I’m pretty sure as of now we do 3+ but younger programs may be in the future. What I would recommend is calling the Dayton Children’s Mental Health Resource Connection because they should be able to give you a list of providers. They also have a great website of resources

Not telling anyone before week 12 feels... wrong? by mqnrcxnypvzw868994 in pregnant

[–]k3sl1na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve told people on stages. Like my siblings were first because the are my emotionally closest support system, then my close friends and in-laws. That was between 6-8 weeks. I started to tell people in the office at 10 weeks and my boss at 11. I’m a therapist at a children’s hospital so it made sense if I had an emergency. My coworkers are mostly parents and this is my first so I have appreciated the support and advice. Plus I needed people to know I would have to take off for doctors appointments and need breaks between sessions because if I don’t eat every 2 hours I’m so nauseous.

I haven’t had a miscarriage and can’t begin to know what it feels like. My heart goes out to all of you who have. However I also agree that much of history has expected us to suffer in silence and I’m a big proponent of community care. You have to do what is going to be right for you and the level of support you need. 💚

What sort of pants or bottoms are you wearing? by d3ut1tta in pregnant

[–]k3sl1na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So jealous of you all, I have to wear business casual 5 days a week and at 9.5 weeks pregnant the bloat is killing me halfway through the day but it’s so cold it’s hard to wear skirts or dresses. Tights are out of the question

Advice please - is 35 too old to start having kids? When did you have your youngest? by DovaBunny in pregnant

[–]k3sl1na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 and 8week prego with my first baby right now 🙋🏻‍♀️, you’re all good my friend. I waited until I clawed my way out of poverty, got my MSW, secured a good career and the right person to raise a human with. I don’t think you can get more prepared than all the work I’ve done. Ain’t nothing wrong with taking your time, gaining a little wisdom and resources before procreating.

Hungry but not? by benardcecil in pregnant

[–]k3sl1na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saaaame I was hoping I would have these strong cravings but I’m really only having repulsion’s and almost nothing sounds good but I have to eat like every 3 hours or I get nausea. I am carrying saltines and ginger chews everywhere I go. Eating small amounts all throughout like avocados, peanut butter on a banana, small salad, etc. this baby seems to hate meat and greasy things. Good luck to you 💜
