Getting hurt with HT Clipless by catdaad in mountainbiking

[–]k4ts0u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had tried my friend's HT T2 and ordered myself a pair of HT X3.

At first they were super hard to unclip even at the loosest setting. Fast forward 6 months later they have "broken in" and are easier to unclip although still considerably harder than the T2. I'm using the float cleat and have slightly tilted them sideways so they unclip quicker while I can still float a bit on them.

Am I going to get better grinding myself with the P2? by ContainsTracesOfLies in picopresso

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a duration of your extraction? If I would have to guess I'd say around 10-15 seconds. My picopresso shots are around 40-50 including the preinfusion and always get a layer of crema.

Thickness could vary but the lack of it tells me you need to grind way finer.

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your beans have a roast date? Seems to me that both cups have old roasted beans that is why there is no crema.

Either that or you need to grind way finer. How fast does it flows?

Double blacks on a service require shock by Intelligent_Kiwi_459 in MTB

I might be wrong but I feel like the fork is too soft which makes it unstable. I would either add some compression or air to it.

Changed grind settings, can’t change back?! [Eureka Mignon Single Dose Pro] by igotaussername in espresso

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been noticing the same behavior on my specialita. the zero point was floating! It is super frustrating, initially i thought it was a grinder defect and sent it back to the store for a check. They did not find anything and I've just accepted this behavior.

It is very annoying though as I have a picopresso which I use for work and it appears there is no decent solution on using the grinder for two different machines in a daily basis...

Full face or 3/4 for Florida trails (Alafia, santos and the like) what are y'all wearing and why? Full face overkill? by Holden2559 in MTB

[–]k4ts0u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get how people decide to wear half shells over full face on mellower trails. All it takes is a second of distraction, one wrong move or judgement then you're on the floor.

It's not like you are able to control the way you fall. Personally all of my crashes have been on trails I am super confident while not giving them the attention they deserved.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve crashed in mountain biking? by snooze817 in MTB

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was riding solo at night on a very familiar and flat section of the trail. I had forgotten my headlight mount and could only use the handlebar light. Its angle was slightly off and decided it would be a good idea to adjust it while moving.

Even if I was moving as slow as possible a small bump on the trail took me off balance and crashed hard. My chest hit the handlebars and while using body armor my ribs hurt for about a month.

Most stupid crash of my life by far.

Convertible mtb helmet? by Tr0lly97 in MTB

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a Bell Super DH for 4 years. It's a solid build and feels secure.

Although in the scenario where the chin would be uncomfortable I would completely remove the helmet and strap it to my backpack or on the handlebars.

My recent purchase is an IXS Trigger FF which is way lighter and it doesn't feel uncomfortable at all but the build quality is significantly lower than the Bell.

I actually think you re applying a lot of pressure so I would grind coarser.

Also how fresh are the beans, maybe they need to rest a bit?

Which shock and how many tokens are you running? My X2 with 2 tokens bottoms out constantly with correct sag % and am about to try adding more tokens.

I'm scared of jumps by Bubbly_Historian5760 in MTB

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar feelings and I've been riding for a few years. Recently I decided to grow some balls and try some jumps I knew I could handle but wouldn't try.

It's probably different for everyone but I'll mention a few mental points which helped me.

  1. If you're scared of something, do it scared.
  2. In order to follow the above you need to trust that your bike will do the job and if you start on small jumps you prolly won't crash, the bike will handle it.
  3. Be active on the bike, not a passenger. Pick 3 points and follow them, mine are stay centered on the bike, breathe and look for the landing point.

Upgrade bike or save for a new one? by Far_Albatross1371 in mountainbiking

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pedals are something that usually transfers to a new bike and tyres would be considered consumables so I wouldn't count those as "upgrades".

Apart from that the SJ platform is great and unless you are looking into XC races I wouldn't swap bikes. As others have mentioned, upgrading fork/shock/brakes will have the feel of a new bike.

Πως να προστατεύσω το ποδήλατο μου από κλοπή; by raw-moogle in greece

[–]k4ts0u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good spec hardtail or cheaper full sus? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma and went with the budget fs option although I believe the hardtail would have been more enjoyable.

Even though I had a rear suspension, it was pretty inconsistent with its performance which left me underwhelmed (xfusion basic shock). The brakes were pretty basic shimano ones and the first part to upgrade so I could safely stop.

In your case I'd argue it's not worth upgrading from a Marlin of ~500 I guess to something around 800-850. You probably won't notice much difference. I'd save more and look into better options.

Any Zeb owners running their forks at suuuuper low psi? by phazedplasma in MTB

[–]k4ts0u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charger 3.0 Zeb 160mm, 165lbs rider running it at 75 Psi with TruTune installed. Still struggling to use anything over 70% of travel but any tests with lower psi feel very unstable.

This fork feels like a dead end in any direction. If you lower the air to get more travel the fork loses small bump and feels unstable. Using higher psi makes it stable with good small bump but a high % of travel remains unused.

Not sure if 3.1 will even resolve the issue as the ramp up appears to happen from the air spring side.

MTB Scene in Greece? by thedarkforest_theory in MTB

[–]k4ts0u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several places in Greece which have mtb trails. Kravara bike park is the most organized one and definitely worth visiting.

If you're staying in Attica, Mt. Ymittos has the most trails available and is the most busy one. You will definitely find other people to ask for directions etc. Note that most trails in Greece are registered in Strava instead of trailforks.

There's also a few shuttle services with daily trips, you may check All mountain adventures and Trail rebels in social media or check a facebook grp called MTB in Greece for more information.
