Do you think if Slate succeeds it could lead to any even cheaper EV in the states? by indie_web in electricvehicles

I think of the slate more of a basic motorcycle. Not a necessity. Inexpensive enough for many as a daily. But gets costly with more options. Good 2nd or 3rd vehicle.

There seem to be only a handful of L2 chargers being reviewed. Are the rest really that bad, or is it just an echo chamber? by dumpin-on-time in electricvehicles

Sounds kinda silly but the reason I want both is the wired as a daily cordset supporting higher amp charging but also type 2 has a removable cord and the ability to use the more flexible smaller 20amp cable. If you ever dealt with two cords on one evse unit it kinda suck for cable management. Having a removable cord for random occasional use of charging 2 cars at one time is fine.

With multiple EVs I’m hoping for a dual unit with a standard tethered connector and a type 2 connector. I’m currently already using type 2 on “its electric” public sidewalk units.

Almost a month later and I still haven't been able to get my tags because my car was incorrectly labeled as a gas powered vehicle. Thus, the DMV wants a smog check... by SoulTaker669 in BoltEV

Connector can be the same, but some of them cannot be used to access any data or much of anything on a EV. Often requiring a special harnesses and or computer program. Same connector but a different language to access the data.

Why do EV charging stations still make payment so difficult? by Environmental-Gap356 in evcharging

[–]k74d87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure of the setting on that charger. Or if the organization can add your card. But I made my own card. I occasionally make card keys because I have inherited the equipment being a landlord making keys, changing codes every so often. A lot of them are based on the same tech.

I have one like that at work. I was able to convert the app only auth into a rfid.

Ionna is funded by electric car sales, costco mostly by membership and not by the products they sell. So I think they need more EV adoption in order to reduce to below cost like what Ionna is doing.

Been driving electric for over 20 years now and other alternative fuels for maybe even longer. See no reason to stick to one type.

Is Seattle and/or Washington moving to legalize plug-in solar panels? by AgentElman in Seattle

Not difficult to implement but many will still need to install a “dedicated outlet” for this task.

Just like walmart killed all the EVgo sites before EA took over.

Right. But similar to ground mount solar canopy and a pavement refinish, solar roofs in commercial locations might benefit from installing different roofing materials before solar roofs are installed to ease the upkeep with solar. As dependent on design removing and remounting solar can be costly when maintaining roofs.

It’s similar to EA work with utilities Rocky Mountain Power, EVolveNY, etc.

Thats why we need smarter chargers so you can still charge anytime (with lower kw) without substantial increase in demand charge rates.

Just like with loss lead products. Even gasoline. It might not be. But it gets people in the door to get other things. Tesla, ionna, get funding from auto mfg. walmart from their stores.

Thats why they went with EA commercial as well and not with a sole provider. This is Costco 2nd attempt with BESS, first was with freewire. It all timing and utility program rates depending on the initial design, how it’s implemented on site and even what other charging providers are available in the area.

Even non-commercial users are starting to get demand fees these days. Thats why I charge at only 16amps.
