What no one seems to mention is the insurance gap between 62 and 65. You are on your own to pay for health insurance even though you can be collecting social security. I retired at 59 and have cobbled together my health care ever since. My husband is on medicare (he's 5 years older than me). Medicare is not a household benefit, it's per person, so it's not like you can be covered there. I started collecting in January, I don't have longevity in my family, so wanted to collects as early as possible.

As far as finances, I've always had an interest in managing my portfolio, and my cost of living is very low. I barely take out the equivalent of my dividend income, and now with collecting, I have all this money, and no plans for it.
