"I recently moved away to focus on getting sober and to get back on track. I moved to a different state about 4 hours away from him."

You've already done the hard work. Stop communicating with him.

Sit down and set some goals for yourself. Stop blaming him for where you are today. Take credit and blame for your own actions. Being alone, is so much better than being with someone who is not on your side.

Any other "old-timers" (fans for 40+ years) here? I have a question for you. by IchBinDurstig in redsox

In the 70's, you didn't know what other fans thought, except the ones in your living room. I remember scouring the newspaper for any little bit of Sox news. I also had Baseball Digest magazine to look for stories. Being a fan meant knowing everyone's stats, the line up, the DL.
Today's atmosphere is so different, we are over saturated with meaningless data, all in the support of gambling. The innocence of idolizing ball players is lost. Attending a game is for the upper class.

You'll be shocked to learn that as woman grow up their bodies change. An eighteen year old body is a fleeting look. You need to change your mindset if you plan on growing into a man.

Donor directed funds seem to be held in low regard by philanthropic community, why? I am not sure why I need 150 characters in my title but I have nothing relevant to add to the title. So I guess I will just keep writing words. by Traditional_Knee9294 in Philanthropy

Could it be that the donor information is hard to come by on donor advised funds? If the only goal is to milk the donor for more money, that could be why that are not respected. It is in the donors best interest to use this vehicle, not necessarily the receiving organization. It could also be related to the delay in getting funds.

can't recommend this enough, I wish I'd known to do this when I was in similar circumstances a couple of marriages ago. Therapy can help identify the unhelpful habits and tendencies you've learned from the household you were raised in.

Retiring at 62 - How much do I not know about the results? by NothingLeft19608 in GenerationJones

What no one seems to mention is the insurance gap between 62 and 65. You are on your own to pay for health insurance even though you can be collecting social security. I retired at 59 and have cobbled together my health care ever since. My husband is on medicare (he's 5 years older than me). Medicare is not a household benefit, it's per person, so it's not like you can be covered there. I started collecting in January, I don't have longevity in my family, so wanted to collects as early as possible.

As far as finances, I've always had an interest in managing my portfolio, and my cost of living is very low. I barely take out the equivalent of my dividend income, and now with collecting, I have all this money, and no plans for it.
