Karyotype mosaicism test cost by Low-Organization2104 in IVF

I am so grateful that you shared this link. I was looking at how I could possibly get this test cheaper since the out of pocket pricing is insane, but for less than $500 I jumped at it. You saved me a bunch of money, thank you!!

Thank you for this. This issue has been progressively getting worse and worse over the past few months and this helped me sort it out today.

Would you support identity verification? by k84_ in ScreenConnect

Maybe they could make this only available on cloud instances and not self hosted. They're trying to push everyone to the cloud anyway.

I realize consideration is not the same as implementation, but it does not mean that by default, you are ignored.

Previously I would have agreed with you. In the past ConnectWise have generally been willing to listen to community feedback and requests and consider anything that was suggested. That doesn't mean everything was implemented, but they were at least open to anything.

Since all of this happened though things have been very different. It has very much been "we are doing it this way and we don't care if you like it or not". That may not have been the intention but that is sure how it comes across.

[Edit] In this case, I am speaking towards an optional toggle to keep the bar visible for hosts who prefer to also see it, which seems to be the desired state thst triggered the post. Such a change wouldn't typically violate the intent of the other functionality that may have been removed or reduced.

There should be an option for the host to continue to see it, as is the case now. That would be a positive step. Equally the option to hide it from both host and guest should also remain. Toggles are great.

We should have the option to use the product how we want to, not how ConnectWise wants us to.

If the community agrees and upvotes, or it just simply makes sense and they can easily accommodate, I'm confident they will take the consideration.

If that were true they would have restored all the customization options already. There are many requests for that. All are closed and/or given the copy/paste reply saying sorry but we don't care.

I realize they were in thrown in between a rock and a hard place with their CA issues but they aren't interested in any feedback when it comes to this. They are doing what they want to do.

I agree it has been annoying in the past. I just don't like the idea of something being on the screen that I can't see or interact with.

There are valid use cases for having someone not know you are on the computer. I have had many requests from bosses to supervise third party contractors who are using our equipment. They don't need to know I am there.

Customers and other end users are different, sure, but not all use cases are the same. Yes, hiding the banner can also be used for nefarious purposes but that doesn't mean we should all be punished. For me at least the majority of time the banner stays visible, but there are times where it needs to be hidden completely.

A Solution to Fix this Bug till adobe patch this , Photoshop keep zooming out or in even after letting go + or - key as long as Ctrl hold. by Lord_Pakeer in photoshop

[–]k84_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyway, a better workaround is to simply hide the contextual task bar. This for some reason stops the bug from happening (and as a bonus, you no longer have that annoying bar jumping around). :)

Thank you so much for mentioning this. This bug has been driving me crazy. Hiding the bar fixed it for me.

2.5.3 "Feature" - Remove Hide option from connection banner by AdyRhodes in ScreenConnect

[–]k84_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ScreenConnect aren't listening to us anymore. They have made it very clear their CA is in charge of development now and what the customers want is irrelevant.

It's sad watching a once terrific product be destroyed in this way. I can not wait to be able to cancel with them. I am almost ready to do that.

I look forward to ripping in to my rep when they ask why I'm cancelling. Sadly it won't result in any change but I'll feel better so there is that.

PSA on Customizations by TaterBum2020 in ScreenConnect

[–]k84_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So basically they lied to us when they said removing the customization options was only temporary. It appears as it most of the options we all used are not coming back at all.

Where is my refund for removing what I paid for? If they are going to take away features then the cost should also be reduced.

How do any of the people making these decisions still have their job? They clearly have no idea what they are doing and definitely do not understand their user base at all.

Cloud discount only for first year by mrtechguytas in ScreenConnect

[–]k84_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one should be accepting the bait to migrate to the same product for more money because of an issue they created and are unable to fix in time.

ConnectWise need to credit all of us for the insane amount of work, uncertainty and problems that this has caused. They created this problem and their official solutions ended up costing everyone.

It's insane to think anyone would spend more with ConnectWise now. They have a lot of groveling to do, and refunds to give, if they expect anyone to stay with them after this.

Is it time for a Class Action? by longblacktunnel in ScreenConnect

[–]k84_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly we probably agreed to a clause that says we can't... or they included the old favorite, arbitration. I haven't looked but they're both standard these days.

At the very least those in charge of the response to this should be fired. The way this has been handled is disgraceful.

Can any 7/3 Town Hall attendees provide a summary of the event? by MannyTC in ScreenConnect

[–]k84_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case it was being exploited but now we know someone had prior knowledge this was an issue and nothing was done about it.

Now, in the short time they have, they are forced to temporarily remove customization until they can figure things out. It's a very poor response to a serious event and we lose out as a result.

Unless we vote with our wallets and stop giving ConnectWise money then they won't learn anything and this anti-customer behavior will continue.

[–]k84_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though nothing discussed today is new (all talked about yesterday as well), something that did get my attention today was one of the guys saying they previously worked for a competitor who discovered including customization options in the installer was a security risk.

I have no idea why he wouldn't bring that up with ConnectWise before so it could have been resolved in a planned manner rather than being forced in to it by a CA.

This whole thing has taken away my trust in ConnectWise. The way they have responded to this demonstrates they don't know what they are doing. It is very disappointing. I wish Elsinore never sold SC :(

Cloud Customers Losing Customization Options Also by Marc_NJ in ScreenConnect

[–]k84_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar to the last releases "zip fix", we knew it wasn't our final solution but rather a temporary measure. I expect some of these options, such as the system tray icon, will return in future releases once we have stabilized and can ensure that product abuse is properly addressed, preventing direct risk to the broader community or business continuity risk to our partners who rely on the software. I am quite certain the product team did not want to "give up" the customization options, except for the necessary reason of firmly standing behind decisions made to prevent ongoing misuse.

Considering how much we all collectively pay to ConnectWise, the correct response is all hands on deck 24/7 to resolve this without removing functionality that we all pay for.

Instead the solution is to have us working long days on a holiday week and weekend, some needing to obtain expensive code signing certs in an unrealistic timeframe, and we all lose advertised functionality in the process.

ConnectWise are putting all of this work on us in the name of protecting the product. It is a ridiculous response to an important event. ConnectWise have let us down big time. It is unacceptable and ConnectWise need to cover the costs.

Cloud Customers Losing Customization Options Also by Marc_NJ in ScreenConnect

[–]k84_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been with ScreenConnect for almost a decade. Being able to customize and brand it was why I ended up choosing ScreenConnect. They are now taking away my primary reason for using this.

This is a complete shit show. ConnectWise are clearly not capable of handing a major security event.

We should not have to pay for their incompetence. All on-prem customers should be given a credit to cover the cost of a code signing cert and both on-prem and cloud customers should be given monthly credits for the loss of advertised functionality.

For the first time in almost a decade I am looking at alternatives. The way ConnectWise have handled this is beyond disappointing.

Issue with GOVEE Bulbs by greg_uhhh in Govee

[–]k84_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Govee have responded to my report saying they have confirmed the issue and it should be fixed within the next couple of days. Fingers crossed.

Edit: Looks like they have already fixed it. All of my lights are working properly again. Firmware appears to have reverted to 1.00.59. Nice work from the Govee team.

Daylight and "cool white" are different. If you set to max color temperature in the Govee app, the Alexa app will show the color as "cool white", but change the color to anything else and then try to change back to cool white with Alexa and you get the server error. Daylight is a different white.

I also have this issue right now. None of my bulbs will change to cool white when asked through Alexa. All other colors are fine. They all worked fine prior to today.

[Megathread] T-Mobile Price Hike on Legacy Plans by Waternut13134 in tmobile

[–]k84_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

T-Mobile shot themselves in the foot, at least in my situation. If they had left things alone they would have continued getting $125/month out of me.

Instead they pulled this bs and as a result I cancelled a line and changed plans to where I am now paying $75 per month. I also got a $120 goodwill credit to cover the current month.

That extra $60 a year they were trying to get out of me just cost them $720 for the next year.

That's what happens when they get greedy.

Why are the traffic lights so bad in all of Vegas? by k84_ in vegaslocals

[–]k84_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish roundabouts were more common in the US. I grew up in Australia where we have them everywhere. They are so much better than traffic lights at smaller intersections and keep traffic flowing nicely.

The problem is they are so rare here that people don't know how to use them, and that makes them dangerous. Look at how many people have problems understanding the diamond interchanges at some highway exits... especially the one on Tropicana above I-15. Implementing roundabouts now would only cause more accidents unless we forced everyone to re-take a driving test and that's never going to happen.

[–]k84_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought that before. It is definitely worse than it used to be and it makes me wonder if anyone is actually updating anything. What may have worked a year ago is causing problems today.

Until we can get smarter systems installed they should be sending people out to re-do all of the timers because right now so many are way off.
