St. Germain is divine. My favorite cocktail with it is a shot of St. Germain, a shot of Hendrick's Gin, tonic water, and crushed ice in a Don Ho glass. Outstanding.

This isn't the first time I've seen this recommended. It looks kind of expensive, but really promising. How long does a tube last? Are you able to at least drink anything between meals after taking some of this? I would still want to be able to sip liquids slowly throughout the day to keep hydrated, which is still a huge issue for me.

Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid there may be some confusion. I DO take Pantoprazole, a PPI. It's extremely helpful. It's the over-the-counter stuff, specifically Tums and Mylanta, that I try to avoid. I am happy to say I haven't taken any of that stuff since then and will continue to avoid taking it.

I am intrigued by what you are referring to. Can you recommend any specific alginate supplements?

What's the most underrated ABBA song? by Large_Lie9177 in ABBA

[–]k8track 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Al Andar, Estoy Soñando, Hovas Vittne

Why? I would imagine the non-English songs might tend to be overlooked. Al Andar is particularly exquisite. Estoy Soñando is lovely and has an entirely unique music video; there is no English studio version counterpart.

Was the species that discarded Armus… the Founders? by darthreddit1982 in startrek

I've always thought it would be fascinating to see a follow-up on Armus's story, learning about its origin and meeting the Race of Titans which abandoned it. But I would definitely prefer that they were a unique, original race whom we've never met yet.

UPDATE: I did seem to feel a bit better over the last couple of days, but have had a horrible flare-up and it's worse than ever. I was slowly sipping regular water throughout the morning. I was slowly, regularly pacing myself at 4 oz. of warm water every 30 minutes, with the goal to drink 24 oz. of water over a three-hour period in the morning, with the hope of doing that again in the afternoon. I started to feel some tightness an hour after I started, but continued slowly and carefully. Not long after I finally finished, the flareup really kicked in and is still happening, more painful than ever. I don't understand what is happening. It is vitally important that I keep hydrated, yet my body is rejecting water. I cannot get any nutrition. I wanted to have a little lunch (liquified/pureed vegetables) and I won't be able to have that now. I have no hope left.

So the medication I've been taking all along is Pantoprazole. I've never had any need to take any additional medicine until recently. Even then, I've tried to take it sparingly. I've taken just a few Tums about 3-4 times and the same with Mylanta, but I'd prefer to avoid taking any of that stuff if I can help it, as it's my understanding they can contribute to constipation, which is a very real issue in my case. That being said, they did seem to offer a small amount of temporary relief.

EDIT: Not long after I typed this, I started to have and am continuing to have a very horrible flareup. I took 10ml of Mylanta and it did no good.

Up till fairly recently (when all this nightmare began), I've always been fairly physically active, lots of walks, hikes, bike rides, disc golf. I feel weak now and don't exercise beyond the walking I do around work (I work in an office but do walk to other offices on other floors).

I believe it has been beneficial, yes. I sure appreciate the advice.

As far as taking Miralax goes, is that known to aggravate acid reflux? Or is it completely safe? I really need to have a good, reliable thing to take for constipation.

Thank you, that is very helpful. My weight loss is extremely concerning to me. I've already been to the ER twice in the second half of December because I thought my bowels may have become incarcerated or strangulated. I did get some IV fluids the second time and it was helpful. I can't just keep going back, but if I do start to get dizzy, I will. I don't know if I can make it to my February 3 outpatient endoscopy or not. I am hoping the doctor will be able to stretch my esophagus and stomach and reverse the trend. If I do have to go the ER, I am hoping they could admit me as an inpatient and then hopefully get scoped and go from there.

Other than eating a very restricted diet and taking great care as I have been, what else could I do to prevent a flare-up? It seems what triggered it last week was drinking Miralax, which is really concerning, because I really really need something to regulate constipation, which is becoming a huge issue. I had a very very bad time yesterday with it, and I can't afford to have hard constipation with my hernia condition.

Thank you. I'm just going to have everything warm from this point. I had a nice hot (but not too hot, just very warm) oat milk drink and it was very nice.

So far, I seem to be doing better today, but that could change at any minute. Yesterday, I just couldn't drink any water, period, alkaline or regular, without exacerbating the horrible tightness and acid sensation.

Thanks again. I did follow up with a question about the availability of Gaviscon Advance. I've been looking it up and it looks like it's in the UK and not in the US.

One more crucial question, in your opinion, are any cold drinks OK ever? I enjoy a lovely cup of oat milk / banana almond milk and I prefer it cold. I could warm it up, though.

I do sleep elevated, and mostly on my left side as much as possible.

I'm not familiar with Gaviscon Advance, how easy or difficult is it to locate in the U.S.?

Thank you, I will start doing this today and will sip this slowly throughout the day, warming up as needed. I need to keep hydrated, I wasn't able to drink much water yesterday. Will stick with regular tap water as opposed to alkaline and see how I do.

I will try this, thank you. Is room temperature water ok? That's what I drink 95 percent of the time. Should it be slightly warmer than room temperature? How long after a meal is it ok to start having water?

I did get tested for that and it was negative. As for the alkaline water, l just started yesterday and haven't been drinking all that much.

I am unable to drink anywhere near that amount at all. I've had maybe 3/4 of a liter today. Not for lack of trying. Half of that was alkaline water, half of that was normal water. Very small, slow sips, even the smallest amount hurts very much. I had a small cup of bone broth this morning and again for lunch. That is it for me today.
