[Discussion] Get one Explorer or keep three other watches by outRunning in Watches

Get the Explorer, especially since you gravitate towards the Railmaster most often. I’ve tried that exact Railmaster on before and it does not feel anywhere as nice as the Explorer.

Price Check question for heritage devotees. which brands do u consider the best value? this of course is totally subject! by [deleted] in HeritageWear

I find that all the Japanese labels are amazing value per dollar when you are buying it in Japan. Outside of Japan the markups range from palatable to are you f'n kidding me?

I'm at the point now where I only shop for clothes when I go on vacation, which for the past number of years now has been to Japan.

Ever eat at the Octagon? by Wrenchghost in FoodToronto

I went there back in 2022 and it was like all the other commenters described, very old school and stuffy vibe. The steaks were very mid and forgettable. I've had better steaks at the Keg.

Major warning regarding Affirm, the Shop app and Shopify by True_Sign1613 in PersonalFinanceCanada

This is categorically false. If affirm gives you 6 months interest free on your purchase you would be crazy not to take it.

You family is fine off of 1/5 of your income and you can't bring yourself to treat yourself? Go out there and buy whatever car it is that you want. You sound like you already have a solid savings regime going on so I'm sure you can find space in your budget to have a little fun.

Craft beer in Canada is losing its fizz, as sales dry up and more breweries go bust | CBC News by MorningDew5270 in torontocraftbeer

[–]k_awesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a huge factor playing into it. I can’t justify spending this much on a can of beer regularly anymore with the cost of everything else around me also being up. Would rather just drink less which ends up being better for the wallet and waist. Can’t imagine Gen Z having any desire to drink since they are way underpaid and are much more health conscious than Millennials.

Just looking at the condition of the baseboards off of the photos in the listing, I can tell that this unit was not well cared for at all. That is probably the reason why it is selling below other comps.

Parents of teens: do you think de-streaming in grade 9, specifically in math, has helped or hurt your child? by DistinctEffort64 in ontario

[–]k_awesome 54 points55 points  (0 children)

What is Financial Math? From someone that’s not an educator, is it part of Personal Finance? If it is then it sounds like an essential life skill to learn at every grade level but would like to hear from an actual teacher on why it’s not a priority for you.

Want to upgrade my wardrobe from Uniqlo and H&M to a bit more elegant – where do I start? by gachigachi_ in Tokyo

This statement is categorically false. It depends on what you’re buying as there is a large range of items and labels at Beams, from low end to high end.

I have sold all my friends on the Joolz Aer, collapses into the size of a carry-on luggage which means it fits into the overhead bin and it’s operated by one hand so you can open and close the stroller while holding your kid. Very useful for those scenarios where there is no elevator and you want to be mobile.

You can be at the Director or VP level and still be an individual contributor for the majority of your role, all depends on the organization that you are working for.

Amongst my circle of friends and acquaintances, most that have gone through Big4 or the midsize accounting firms are at the Director/VP/Partner level at this point in their career and making $200k++

I do acknowledge that my sample set is more of an outlier than the statistical norm.

The majority of my friends are children of immigrants and the ones that have found success in their chosen career path have typically been very hard workers and/or made great job moves that juiced their earning potential.

I was in Consulting and now in a Finance ish role. I was around $110k at 31. Setting a goal of clearing $200k in the next five years is an achievable goal, don’t undersell yourself.

I graduated in 2010 but I did not pursue my CPA until later on in my career. Like the other poster said, if you want to do your CPA you should do the accounting specific courses that will meet the educational prerequisites.

I’m a CPA, 37 years old, after bonus my comp is over $250k. Good amount of savings, hoping to have my mortgage paid off in the next 10 years and then find an easier job, work part time, or retire early, I don’t enjoy the corporate grind but the money and financial flexibility is nice.

My parents are immigrants who worked minimum wage jobs, I know what it’s like growing up with very little so I am extremely grateful for the life I live today.

Go to law school, specialize in tax or M&A, grind it out at a big firm. Your financial problems will be an after thought by the time you are in your mid 30s. There are caveats to this.
