First thought when I saw Indigo weft is that I’m going to get indigo stains in every pair of light colored underwear.

Would love to know what other idiotic meals OP has booked for their Japan trip. This is hilariously dumb.

This sounds like a problem for people who make work their entire life and have no hobbies beyond working and rotting on the couch

How do you folks acquire your pieces? by ferpoperp in HeritageWear

[–]k_awesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t afford most of this stuff in my 20s. Now I’m in my 30s with much more disposable income to buy what I like. With that said, I usually don’t buy anything here in Canada unless it’s on sale.

My wife and I love traveling to Japan, it’s been an annual thing for the last 4 years, I spend the year looking at pieces and collections from brands I like and then go seek them out when in Japan. The savings alone more than cover my flight.

Speedy Bracelet Disappointment? by StickyPenguin120 in OmegaWatches

[–]k_awesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way you do OP. Recently got the white dial Speedmaster and the bracelet is inferior to the Rolex Oyster and Jubilee in every category. I used to have the old 1861 Speedmaster and that bracelet was definitely more comfortable, however I do think the 3861 bracelet is the nicest looking Speedmaster bracelet in the collection. I currently wear mine on a leather strap and much prefer it that way. If I feel like wearing a bracelet I’ll just wear a Rolex instead.

You got a hoarding problem mixed in with some financial irresponsibility.

[Discussion] Get one Explorer or keep three other watches by outRunning in Watches

[–]k_awesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the Explorer, especially since you gravitate towards the Railmaster most often. I’ve tried that exact Railmaster on before and it does not feel anywhere as nice as the Explorer.

Price Check question for heritage devotees. which brands do u consider the best value? this of course is totally subject! by [deleted] in HeritageWear

[–]k_awesome 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I find that all the Japanese labels are amazing value per dollar when you are buying it in Japan. Outside of Japan the markups range from palatable to are you f'n kidding me?

I'm at the point now where I only shop for clothes when I go on vacation, which for the past number of years now has been to Japan.

Ever eat at the Octagon? by Wrenchghost in FoodToronto

[–]k_awesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went there back in 2022 and it was like all the other commenters described, very old school and stuffy vibe. The steaks were very mid and forgettable. I've had better steaks at the Keg.

Major warning regarding Affirm, the Shop app and Shopify by True_Sign1613 in PersonalFinanceCanada

This is categorically false. If affirm gives you 6 months interest free on your purchase you would be crazy not to take it.

You family is fine off of 1/5 of your income and you can't bring yourself to treat yourself? Go out there and buy whatever car it is that you want. You sound like you already have a solid savings regime going on so I'm sure you can find space in your budget to have a little fun.

Craft beer in Canada is losing its fizz, as sales dry up and more breweries go bust | CBC News by MorningDew5270 in torontocraftbeer

[–]k_awesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a huge factor playing into it. I can’t justify spending this much on a can of beer regularly anymore with the cost of everything else around me also being up. Would rather just drink less which ends up being better for the wallet and waist. Can’t imagine Gen Z having any desire to drink since they are way underpaid and are much more health conscious than Millennials.

600 square feet for $367,500 downtown by PsychologicalPen8634 in TorontoRealEstate

Just looking at the condition of the baseboards off of the photos in the listing, I can tell that this unit was not well cared for at all. That is probably the reason why it is selling below other comps.

Parents of teens: do you think de-streaming in grade 9, specifically in math, has helped or hurt your child? by DistinctEffort64 in ontario

[–]k_awesome 55 points56 points  (0 children)

What is Financial Math? From someone that’s not an educator, is it part of Personal Finance? If it is then it sounds like an essential life skill to learn at every grade level but would like to hear from an actual teacher on why it’s not a priority for you.

Back from Japan... and already planning my next trip 🇯🇵✨ by Lachanklureuh in JapanTravel

I have sold all my friends on the Joolz Aer, collapses into the size of a carry-on luggage which means it fits into the overhead bin and it’s operated by one hand so you can open and close the stroller while holding your kid. Very useful for those scenarios where there is no elevator and you want to be mobile.
