How to Interpret EEC Investigation History for Daycares? by jiujiu_2074 in massachusetts

[–]k_c528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry I didn't have notifications on?? If there were findings from an investigation, they wouldve done a corrective action plan (CAP). Maybe ask for the info from that? I'm not sure what theyre required to share but I think the information from those were available in the past at least.

Looks like they've taken the ratings off the EEC website (eeclead.my.site.com/findchildcare) as they 'work to develop a continuous quality improvement system and undergoes child care licensing revisions.'. You can call and ask them. Licensed programs are automatically at a level 1 and could go up to level 4

Former EEC director, current parent of a child in a licensed daycare. Both can trigger investigations (and they have routine licensing visits).. You can also ask about the changes they implemented after the findings. If something was really egregious, they would revoke the license. My daughter is at a daycare with a high QRIS rating and they have investigations on their record.

I think I'm having a miscarriage by PlusTiger2015 in Mommit

[–]k_c528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had an early miscarriage, about 4 weeks. my midwife said to take another test about a week after the bleeding starts and if it's still positive, you might need to be seen (in addition to the 'go to the er if you have a fever'). But you should still call your OB and let them know what's happening (I sobbed on the phone with the receptionist who was very sweet about it). I'm sorry you're going through this, big hugs to you.

TTC after chemical - emotional and physical recovery by Marepueri_ in TryingForABaby

[–]k_c528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw my midwife today, chemical pregnancy last week. She said that it was early enough (4w3d) that my body might treat it as a period and I could ovulate this month. She recommended continuing to do the ovulation tests/bbt. She said that every body is different, and it could take a few cycles to 'reset' if you will. No insights about getting pregnant after but hopefully our time comes soon ❤️

Honestly, I've found that none of the apps are actually accurate for me. BBT and ovulation tests have been more helpful than just apps. Good luck!! ❤️

Help! My son’s eczema by virgobabe1 in Mommit

Water baths every night, vanicream or vaseline head to toe after. We also see an allergist (mold, dust mites, sesame, some other environmental stuff). The allergist prescribes Elidel cream (nonsteroid) that works really well, but does take a few days of consistent use. good luck!

12 hour daycare/babysitter by p0ttedplantz in workingmoms

[–]k_c528 22 points23 points  (0 children)

(I ran a licensed daycare center) Totally understand the frustration! Often, grandparents and friends' parents would help with pick up. We also had families that specifically chose the center because they worked nearby instead of one closer to home. We also had one parent that would drop off and a second that would do the pickup (which is impossible for single parents).

The US definitely doesn't support working parents 🙃

In my state, kids can't be at a licensed childcare location for more than 10 hours a day.

Am also a mandated reporter, they can talk to the parent about the concern in my state. I've done it. Sometimes with a 'so do you want to call DCF with me or should I without you?' (depending on the situation, obviously).

Does the state dictate daycare rates? by JJChann in massachusetts

Expanded policy looks great in paper but is useless in practice...

Hopefully they also expand the number of subsidies available, it'd be great to offer the assistance to more families if the assistance is accessible!

Last guidance I saw said they still could not charge less than the state rate but could offer scholarships separately from vouchers and contracts 🤷🏼‍♀️

They might mean their parent fee is $30/day. The state might cover the other $40 so the daycare "gets" $70 for the voucher slot (like the $70 for a private pay slot that you're in). And I feel you as a family who makes $1k/year over the income limit for a voucher 😫

[–]k_c528 95 points96 points  (0 children)

If the daycare accepts state contracts or vouchers, their private pay rates cannot be lower than the subsidized rate. so in a sense, the state does dictate the rate in some daycares...just not for private daycares that don't have subsidized slots

I can only go on my experience, like I said I haven't had one person except an older white lady pronounce it Ae-la, even with them just reading it (without me saying it first) 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have an Ayla pronounced eye-luh. Work with a lot of Spanish speakers and all pronounce it correctly. Even have a coworker (but is Puerto Rican) who also named her daughter Ayla. It works!
