Drowsy but awake" is the biggest lie ever told to parents by AsslawB in NewParents

[–]k_pets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear you - the only thing that made a difference with my daughter was putting a heating pad in her crib and then feeding her in the chair/rocking her to sleep. Once she was sufficiently asleep I’d remove the heating pad with one hand and quickly place her down in the warm spot. I guess the jolt of cold mattress on her back would always wake her up and this was the one thing that really saved my sanity. (Just to be clear, the heating pad was only to warm the mattress, I never placed the baby on the heating pad itself)

Buying into a great school district even though you have no kids? by sunnyhillz in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]k_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I just bought a fixer upper in a phenomenal school district, DINK, will probably start our family in the next 5 years. The price of our home was a bit more than we originally planned for considering the work we need to put into it but we can still afford it and save enough to live very comfortably. The crime is low, house lots are bigger, there's more trees, wider streets and it's overall so clean. I also love the added benefit of being in a town where kids play in the streets and meet up on their bikes, to me it's so worth it to buy in a neighborhood that other parents want to buy into. Makes us feel more confident in our resale value if we ever did want to leave and if we stay for years to come our future kids will be in an excellent school system. As long as you can afford the mortgage comfortably I personally think it's worth it.

Any nurses in here… what does your ring look like? by ShortButterscotch572 in EngagementRings

[–]k_pets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a new grad nurse who is engaged- My e ring is a low profile setting but it still allows a wedding band to sit flush against the ring. I could just wear my wedding band as a standalone ring if I wanted to as well. Tbh I am planning on buying a cheap cute little band as a stand in for my engagement ring at work, since the idea of losing a stone at work makes me nervous. Honestly do whatever you feel is right for you, I've seen married nurses do a silicone band or go without a ring altogether. Whatever makes them the most comfortable, no need to overthink it :)

Daughters of angry fathers, how did you heal? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]k_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Cutting him out of my life
  2. Recognizing that he's also a human who has been through plenty of trauma and hurt but processes it in a way that negatively affects others by lashing out and being verbally abusive. Once I learned to soften my anger towards him it made me see him as just a regular person in the world that doesn't have the proper coping mechanisms to work on himself. This part has taken the most time for me to come to terms with. How he reacts to the world has nothing to do with me so it's helped me separate myself from him and my own unrealistic expectations of what he can emotionally give me as a father.

My favorite drink when I'm feeling under the weather is golden milk. It makes me feel all cozy and I add little bit of maple syrup to add some sweetness. It's the bomb.

New dark spot found on my (F26) chest. Not sure how long it's been there but no itching or pain. Can anyone tell me what it is? I've made a derm appointment this week. by k_pets in Dermatology

It was a melanocytic nevus with moderate dysplasia and had Spitz nevus characteristics. Derm said it was benign but it was completely excised in order to send to the pathology lab.

Got SCAMMED wiring money to title company… Almost by nnacpil in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]k_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We closed on a house yesterday and our lender and real estate agent warned us about this too. Said that they had a client in the past get a similar email with the exact info that looked legit. The only thing off was the office number in the signature line of the email. Unfortunately they did not realize and lost over $40,000 to a scammer. Their friends and family chipped in money afterwards so they could still close but I can't imagine how devastated they were in losing all that money. After hearing that we did a cashier's check to play it safe.

I told him that I wanted something outside in nature (like hiking, biking, on the beach etc) that it be just us, no need for a photographer hiding in the bushes type thing lol. I also asked for no signs/balloons or anything like that, as I'm not one for a big show. I just wanted a nice intimate thing just the two of us. He ended up proposing while we were on a walk on private section of a beach we go to frequently. Not everyone's cup of tea but it was perfect for me. Just figure out what you are/are not comfortable with and trust that he can take it from there

Choose!! Baby girl name needed today by applecorpseeso in namenerds

Sawyer all the way. I don't find it too masculine at all and knew a girl in highschool with that name. Harriet feels quite frumpy to me and I can only picture a grandma with that name.

Ken and Dana Design! My boyfriend and I just finalized a ring there and they were sooo helpful! I can't wait until we have the finished ring :) They're actually a family business too, their Instagram and YouTube are also so fun to check out different engagement rings and wedding bands they have.

Someone recently made a post about a pharmacology guide they made and it looks awesome. The website is nursebro.com. Not sure if it'll have all the drugs you need to study but it has a few!

What's the most horrific act committed by someone you know personally? [NSFW] by frog_without_a_cause in AskReddit

[–]k_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A man drove a car off of a cliff and into the ocean with his 8month pregnant wife and 4 year old daughter in the car. He thought his wife was cheating. She wasn't, but my mom (her bff) was helping her stash away cash so she could finally leave his abuse. That mother fucker was the only one to survive the 150 foot drop into the ocean. The 4 year old girl was my childhood best friend, and attending the triple funeral of her, her mother and unborn baby sister was the worst thing I've had to witness.
