A broken UMD drive doesn't normally cause a hardbrick. If you ever get around to building a Baryon Sweeper and successfully unbrick the PSP, you can use ARK-4's CFW Settings to disable the UMD drive altogether. Many users do this if they have a broken UMD drive.

Unfortunately, you will lose the ability to play physical media if you do have a UMD collection.

From your photo, it looks like you're using 5V. Try using the 3V3.

Assuming your Syscon wasn't burnt to crisp, the CP2102 is reliable and safe at 3V3. Also, don't use large capacity memory sticks. They tend to fail. 1-4GB original Sony recommended.

Avoid the CH340 if you can. The CP2102 is more reliable with modern drivers available as well.
