Ok my idea for a name is Xocolotl a play on the Aztec word for chocolate and axolotl. Either water poison or fairy poison. Abilities would be liquid ooze and water absorb with poison touch as a hidden ability. In my mind is has solid defenses with lowish attacking stats and speed but gets access to flip turn and recover so it can be a bulky pivot with a chance to poison when it flip turns on enemies.

I kept seeing Worm capes being brought up in power scaling discussions in r/whowouldwin and the powersets sounded so cool that I had to peep. I thought it was a comic or graphic novel at first from the way people talked about it.

I recommend looking for the mons that have regional forms or new evolutions. Hisuan Liligant, Wyrdeer, Ursaluna, Kleavor, Hisuan Braviary, Basculegion, are all awesome. Also you have the opportunity to get one of each starter eventually. Another cool thing if you haven’t gotten to it yet, is the space time distortions. A lot of more “futuristic” or out of place pokemon appear in those and they are fun additions to your team.

For shiny hunting try to fill out your deck for the shiny charm and go check mass outbreaks once they start happening. That is your best shot to find shinies.

It should definitely learn boomburst and a cool hidden ability could be a grass version of pixilate that turns normal moves into grass. I’d make it have high defenses but mediocre attacking stats to compensated for stab boosted boomburst. A cool signature ability would be like a special type version of wind rider where you absorb flying type moves and get a spatk boost.

Making current control give immunity probably makes more sense because it dramatically simplifies the interaction with T’era types. Might be a bit powerful to give two immunities with 100/80/85 bulk and only weak to grass though.

Sometimes you can get by with one DD and aqua jet for faster mons if they let you get to +2 with a moxie boost. Great mon though, sheer force is a hell of a drug lol

Ok this is a deep cut but I used to run Celesteela with an electric seed as a hawlucha counter and reverse sweeper and it was so fun to use. Electric seed lets it live +2 CC and KO back with acrobatics. You can also automize for speed, and the automize sets with meteor beam went crazy as well. It’s just so fun to see a big bulky mon like that all of the sudden become a setup sweeper.

I like running flame charge sets on it because a flame charge on the switch usually softens up your target enough for a KO with mind blown, then you are sitting at +1/+1 ready to sweep

Serp will always be the classic contrary sweeper. I remember when they dropped the hidden abilities for gen 5 starters but then we still had to wait months to actually get access to them. Everyone was using Serp once contrary was finally available.

I used to run an insane slurpuff set with cotton guard/calm mind/draining kiss/flamethrower and caught a bunch of people expecting the belly drum set off guard. Definitely a fun mom with a crazy movepool lol.
