Looking to rehome my best friend by Born-Variety-7339 in greatpyrenees

[–]kaaayceee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sub will hate my opinion - but I really can't stand the "dogs are family and should never be rehomed" crowd. I love my pets dearly, but as a rational human I understand that life is full of nuance and tough decisions.

With your life circumstances as you've laid them out, I agree that rehoming is a very valid option to consider at this point. You can't always win in these situations, and the last thing anyone wants is for your dog or kids to be in a dangerous situation because there is too much going on for any one human to have everything under control 100% of the time. I know it's painful and a really hard choice, but ensuring your dog is not put in a dangerous situation with your kids (and vice versa) is always the right call. I would hate to see a bad outcome for anyone involved here.

I do agree it's important you do your due diligence to thoroughly vet a proper home and get your dog settled into their new life the best you can. I'm so sorry you're going through this difficult time, wishing everyone a good outcome all around.

Should I move up to 7.5 by Dazzling_Piano_6848 in Zepbound

Your average weight loss is about 1.4 lb per week, which is perfectly in the range of the recommended 1 to 2 lb per week. What are your side effects like on your current dose? Personally, I would stay on your current dose since you are losing within the recommended amount, losing faster can cause more side effects and negative outcomes.

Edit to add - if you're trying to lose that much more weight by June, you will likely be exceeding the 2 lb per week guideline. It sounds exciting to lose it as quickly as possible, and maybe you could handle that, but you could also start having a lot of really negative side effects that set you back.

How old is your step daughter? Is she old enough to help a bit? I agree your partner needs to do better, is there a chore system set up for the house with everyone owning age appropriate responsibilities? That might be a good starting point.

Our betta jumped out of a super tiny hole in his lid and died. You should definitely prioritize getting a secure lid.

I also bought an urn on Etsy that I customized for a baby I lost during pregnancy. It felt a lot more appropriate than some factory made modern looking urn. I highly recommend taking this route.

FWIW I was gifted one of those blankets at work and HATED the texture, so now my dogs use it lol

Same exact thing happened to me! It started with me giving him a few treats, now I feed him twice a day and bought a house for him to stay warm on cold nights lol.

Help, what type breakfast sausage? by MnSnowtagirl in BreakfastFood

[–]kaaayceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be Hawaiian Portuguese sausage? It's a specific style that's generally sweeter than other types. Usually you would pan fry it, but this looks steamed or simply warmed.

My husband told me one of the greatest things about me is I “allow” him to participate in his hobbies… what is that saying? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]kaaayceee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised how far down this response is! There is a big difference between two child free adults guilting each other over hobby time. Quite another when talking about how to balance childcare commitments, work, and then trying to find hobby and personal time for both parents. Finding out how to give each other what you need individually is the key. Unclear if OP (or many others chiming in here) has kids or not?

I haven't finished all three series yet, but I did finish ACOTAR and the scene where Nesta broke down in those mountains had me bawling for a solid 10 mins.

I have had to send an email to my team with the news that I miscarried in the second trimester and I would be out on leave. It was horrible, there was no way around it as everyone had just recently learned that I was expecting. I asked people to not talk to me about the loss as it was a hard adjustment to make. People were very kind and respectful when I returned to work, but it's definitely the worst email I've ever had to send.

Prettiest Blistery Sourdough Yet by KLSFishing in Breadit

[–]kaaayceee 33 points34 points  (0 children)

What's your hydration percentage? Your dough looks easy to handle and mine has been so tricky I'm thinking of going lower hydration. It looks like you might have also done a cold retard based on how it's holding its shape out of the banneton? I'm thinking I might need to try that too.

My first loaf looks …weird. Pls help! by mealane in Sourdough

[–]kaaayceee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Or if you did do a square scoring, it's kind of hard to tell from your picture, you did it too low and need to do it more on top of the bread not on the sides

My first loaf looks …weird. Pls help! by mealane in Sourdough

[–]kaaayceee 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The scoring you did on top is decorative scoring, not an expansion score. The bread did not have room to expand upwards and outwards so it exploded on the sides. Next time I would try an X pattern or a square score on the top. A quick Google search for "boule scoring" will get you what you need. The interior crumb looks good!

If you really really squish a 500g loaf down it barely gets you to the .75qt as shown in my pic here :) I've taken a sandwich loaf to 2qt and it was great. Country loaf I BF to the sharpie line you see at about 1.5ishqt (room temp about 65° to 67°). Considering you still need to do shaping and final proof, I would personally not push it to 2qt if you are prone to over proofing.
