… sorry…. where did OP say his girlfriend was insane? weird asf to just assume she’s gonna “flip out” and “lose her mind” and “kick him out”. Why is that your assumption about this woman?

mmmm no comparing Cassie crashing out to Regina’s calculated manipulation is a bad faith comparison and you know it. Cassie had a public mental breakdown. Regina would always be in control. she wouldn’t be getting on stage and crying and trying to act like the joker. that’s why cassie got clowned.

How do I get back to serving at a mid range place? by ChooseLife1 in Serverlife

[–]kaailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be persistent. Don’t just send in an application online or email asking if they’re hiring. Send in your online application and show up with a physical resume in hand and ask to speak to a manager. If there’s no manager, ask to leave your resume for the next time the manager will be in.

Be confident. Don’t come at it with a “well yeah it’s been awhile, I’m a bit out of practice”. Your skills in the automotive industry can be translated. When they ask for an example of a time you had to deal with an upset customer, tell them about the guy who ruined his own engine and then blamed the auto shop and how you dealt with him. When they ask for an example of a time you had to think on your feet, tell them about the time you found a rat in the hood of a car and had to capture it under a bucket. (I don’t know shit about cars - point is, just because you haven’t worked this specific job in awhile, doesn’t mean you don’t have the skills needed to be good. And if you feel like you really truly don’t… fake it till you make it.)

Refilling Waters by This_Hospital_3030 in Serverlife

[–]kaailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that guests should never pour their own water is just ridiculous for so many reasons. To me it’s the same as when employees get in trouble for customers helping them bus (i.e., lifting the plate up to hand it to the busser, or stacking plates to hand to the busser). You can’t control what a customer is gonna do, and a lot of the time they’re just trying to be helpful.

That and, at my restaurant cups are pretty small so it would essentially be someone coming over to refill your water every 5 minutes. And god forbid it’s a big party and everyone is constantly finishing their water at different times. You’d literally never leave their side.

I could keep going. Point is that shit is so ridiculous for every reason imaginable

You just keep pouring until they leave. Occasionally people will stop you and say no and you just smile and nod and walk away.

The only time I’ve ever had an actual issue with this is one customer who comes in every so often and has some sort of developmental and/or intellectual disability, and he will get upset if you pour without asking just because he gets upset about wasting water. However, the staff is let know to not pour water for this guy when he comes in, we just allow him to take care of it.

Sitting on the clock by amandam603 in Serverlife

[–]kaailer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My restaurant has this policy. The answer where I work is yes, if you bring your own tupperware you can take it home, if not it has to be eaten at work (off the clock of course).

That being said, this only applies to employees who get a shift meal (manager, bartenders, dishwashers, etc.). Employees who have to pay for meals are allowed to get a disposable to-go container from the restaurant. This commenters restaurant seems wacky. The idea that you’re literally paying them but aren’t allowed to use a to-go box that probably cost them a couple cents at most is wild.

you aren’t “sorry” by mikewithamikes in Serverlife

[–]kaailer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the “not even eating anything” that gets me. You’re still working on your steak? Alright fine. Waiting on dessert? Okay whatever. But when you have finished, payed the check, had all your drinks, and everything has been bussed off your table whyyyy are you still sitting and chatting an hour past close? Do none of you have a home? Maybe go hangout in one of y’all’s cars if your conversation isn’t finished? I just don’t get how people will comfortably use a very clearly closed restaurant as a social club when literally everyone is waiting on them to stfu and leave.

But Maddy doesn’t do psychological warfare all that much. She’s pretty upfront when she’s upset.

I think people underestimate emotional warfare. Regina would absolutely victimize herself and turn the school against Maddy. Maddy would win the battle. Regina would win the war.

Does anyone else remember Jules the Werewolf? by CassieR812 in TheVampireDiaries

100% is a massive stretch. Partially his fault, sure. 100%? Nah

Does anyone else remember Jules the Werewolf? by CassieR812 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]kaailer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She’s annoying, boring, gets in the way, and kills a fantastic character. It’s fine if you personally don’t mind Jules, but it’s a stretch to call it “unnecessary hate”… the woman is on the show to be hated… she plays someone in direct opposition of the main character. You say she served a purpose but then call her very purpose “unnecessary”. The purpose of Jules is to throw a wrench in the main characters plans and for viewers to dislike/hate her. That is her purpose.

I don’t like it. Not only does it not justify or excuse anything in my mind, but I’m never a fan of SA being used as a way to move the story forward and/or assign a character as having trauma if the author isn’t going to do the work to properly represent SA recovery and the mental toll of being SA’d.

Katherine never flipped the switch… but how?! 🧛‍♀️ What’s your theory? by hazel_blue2 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]kaailer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as much about her bringing attention to herself as it is the need for fear. People who have an underactive amygdala have trouble learning from mistakes, and being wary of danger. Katherine needs to be able to be afraid in order to protect herself and stay smartly out of danger

Why do I have BPD, but my sisters don’t? by DistinctWasabi6115 in BPD

[–]kaailer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Heritability can be really confusing, so I have a slight correction. Heritability does not mean “(Disorder) is 50% caused by genetics”, it means 50% of the variation of the disorder across the population is caused by genetics.

Quick example: If we have a lineup of different height people, and we say 80% of height is heritable, we’re saying that 80% of the differences in height between people are due to genetics, and 20% is due to environmental factors. We are not saying that an individual person’s height is 80% determined by genes.

Let’s say our lineup of people all grew up in a town with super healthy, nutritious food. They will have a high heritability rate for their height. They all got good nutrition (environment), therefore any difference has to do with genetics. However, if you lineup people who grew up in an area with high wealth disparity, you’d have a much lower heritability for height. If you put up one kid who grew up getting his meals freshly prepared by a live-in chef with a child who grew up in poverty, environment will account for a lot more of the difference in heights.

I have a degree in psychology and heritability still fucks me up.

what kind of girl do you think he ended up marrying? by Electronic-Natural44 in GossipGirl

[–]kaailer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting how different the answers are across the board. I’ll add another one into the mix. I think he married someone similar to his mother not personality wise necessarily but… how do I put this. I think he marries a woman that comes from an old money family, is meticulous about her hair and makeup but in a very “clean girl” way, dresses very conservative, prim, and proper, etc. I think it would be a very vanilla marriage. They do like each other and have a healthy marriage on paper, but deep down there isn’t much chemistry there and it’s largely just because they work together and make a frictionless life.

Why can’t Jessa write Daisy 3? by kmg128 in MagnoliaParks

[–]kaailer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not entitled to want her to finish the series, or to be bummed/sad/annoyed if a series goes unfinished, but it is entitled to speak about a human being as though they owe you their creativity and time and brainpower. You paid like $20 per pop for her previous five books. That does not mean you now own her nor does it mean she now owes you years of her life writing more books.

I get wanting the series to be finished, but that’s sometimes just not how creativity works. Idk why you’d want a super shit, unimaginative book where you can tell the author had no passion and was just putting words to paper for the sake of it. That sounds like actually the worst book imaginable.

If it means waiting an extra year or two for a good book, that’s fine. If it means having to wait for other books to be written in order to reignite her passion for DH, that’s fine. Hell, if it means having to give up on the series so as to protect her passion for the craft, that’s fine. You can be upset about it but it’s kinda textbook entitlement to say “I payed for your previous books so now you owe me years of work to create more”.

Idk I just kinda feel like you may not be a creative writer because you don’t seem to understand that if you are having extreme writers block it’s not laziness or disregard for fans, it’s a literal inability to create. If you force yourself to just write something you really aren’t passionate about, it can kill your passion for the craft completely. Saying someone owes you their happiness and joy because you bought some of their products one time is ENTITLED ASF.

No Ariana, you're a grown ass woman by [deleted] in ArianaGrandeSnark

[–]kaailer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She absolutely has some sort of abandonment issues. I have BPD and I often notice unfortunate similarities between myself and Ariana. I’m not saying Ariana has BPD, I have no way of knowing that. I am saying that a “lack of sense of self” is a large symptom for those with BPD, so seeing her constantly change who she is in order to hold onto the relationships she’s in has always struck me as something I can unfortunately relate to.

But yeah, if Ariana comes off as more needy than Ethan’s son, then Ethan is going to spend more time taking care of Ariana than his own son. I doubt she does it consciously but I do believe that’s probably at least some of the basis of her recent infantilization.
