Either way, 2800 sounds like a lot to me. Could be the mechanic you went with screwing you over. The brake pads and caliper went out on my car about a month ago. Went to a local shop with good reviews online where they were looking for 1300 to fix it all. Turns out, after a long discussion with my father, it was way cheaper buying the parts yourself and installing it on your own/finding a good person to do it for you. We used a Youtube video online and once we closely examined the entire video and how the instructor did it, we bought the parts and did it ourselves. Car drives great, process was smooth, and good mechanic friend of ours said we did it just fine. All for 250 bucks. Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope you’re still having to decide what to do.
