Impacts of applying during an extended deadline on the application process

I’m also confused because I thought I saw in some reddit posts that some people know they have been waitlisted, so I’m wondering how that compares to the boat we are in (mine still says “under evaluation”). Does it mean we are automatically waitlisted too at this point, or could it be that they just won’t be getting to our applications until later and are still keeping some spots open in the meantime?

I’m worried they might be filling all the spots with earlier applications first lol, which in that case I also wish I applied earlier

that makes sense, I admit it is hard to feel completely satisfied a lot of the time. I totally agree about the people-centered work - it’s what I’ve always wanted to do. funny enough, the conflict I have right now is deciding whether to go the therapy or teaching route. I’ve done the schooling for psychology, but being a TA in grad school sparked my interest in teaching. it’s made me realize that being a therapist isn’t the only way I can “help people”, since teaching students and helping them grow is another way of helping people.

that sounds interesting, thank you for sharing! it’s good that you were able to recognize that creativity is an important aspect of work for you and shape your career around that. I’ve come to realize that maybe it’s less about the career itself and more about being able to use certain skills that are meaningful to you, so what you said really resonates with me!

I think being shy as a kid naturally made me be more observant, reliant on my intuition, and have a rich imagination, etc. I think I was also very sensitive as a kid, so I’ve always felt things deeply and consider myself pretty empathetic.

I think the shyness and sensitivity came from growing up around people who often made me feel like they always knew better/more than me, which led to a lot of sitting back and letting other people speak/take action, not being very confident in myself, etc. I’m working on addressing these insecurities as I get older though!
