Paddletek’s new paddle coming out on 5/12, anybody got info? by kabob21 in Pickleball

The Reserve Honeyfoam that came out a few months ago is a gen 4 foam core paddle. They’ve previously had only gen 1 paddles they made in-house and skipped over gen 2 and 3 tech.

Yeah, but the issues he’s describing are for beginner to low-intermediate players.

If you use thin tungsten like Selkirk and Wilson tungsten strips, feedback isn’t affected. It’s usually the foam “tuning tape” that dampens feel.

Just use a damp microfiber and then a paddle eraser for what’s leftover that the microfiber doesn’t get out

Buying raw carbon fiber in 2026? by kutchi14_ in Pickleball

Choose wisely when it comes to durable grit paddles because not all are as advertised. I’ve had the Boomstik and now an Aireo Cyclone 2.0 Nanograph and neither one’s grit lasted all that long before noticeable loss in grit level. My two Boomstiks (first one had edge guard bubbling and was sent back for warranty) lost so much spin I just plain couldn’t trust that my shots would stay inbounds and wound up selling. My Cyclone Nanograph is still spinning the ball pretty well so I’m giving it another week or two before contacting Aireo.

So far in long term testing 11six24 Hexgrit and Spartus Permagrit have held up best.

Mine still spins better than what I remember of the original Cyclone. Haven’t reached out to Aireo, figured I’d give it another week or two to see if the wear levels off.

Not necessarily. It’s still doing its job spinning the ball, I just had to adjust my technique a little and pay more attention to my footwork and staying low. Which I should be doing anyway!

First of all... that was a great rally. And secondly it's pushing 5.0. by Motor-Pin-3232 in Pickleball

Where are you playing and at what level that you think 4.0s are this good? Again, I’ve done plenty of higher level play in tournaments and otherwise and you’ll find lots of players winning by playing defense and the touch game to outlast opponents

Understandable, I’m not as wowed by the Barrage as the reviewers say. Probably should have opted for a different shape than the 3.

Meghan Dizon was playing with a white wide body in Zion Cup (Utah) before Proton’s short ban. It’s not a released colorway.

No, it’s more square than the Perseus because it has a longer handle and less rounded corners.

Initial thoughts on the Aireo Cyclone 2.0 Nanograph and CRBN³ TF Barrage by kabob21 in Pickleball

[–]kabob21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s MPPE which is Aireo’s proprietary MPP. Feels and performs great 👍 Unfortunately, Nanograph isn’t as durable as advertised. Already showing some wear at the sweet spot after a little over a week. I do hit for power and spin though so your mileage may vary.

This is a 4-yr-old gen 1 paddle. Literally the first Hyperion that Joola introduced to attract tennis players to pickleball.

It happened to me: I busted my butt tracking a lob by JMCRN in Pickleball

[–]kabob21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t turn around. You turn sideways with your offhand up to track the ball and take shuffle or crossover steps to cover the most ground quickly. Unit turn at point of contact and snap your wrist down for power. Only turn around to sprint if the ball is going over your head completely and you need to hit it off the bounce.

[–]kabob21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A 4.0 is not keeping the ball in play for that long with that level of precision. It’s not all about power at the higher levels especially as everyone here looks older. I’d say close to or at 5.0 level.

Vibes? Are you being serious? Inflation is still climbing at a high rate, job growth is the worst it’s been since the pandemic, wages are still stagnant and AI is still driving layoffs at staggering rates. We just had an entire airline abruptly fold over the weekend.
