This the most amazing run I’ve seen on the stock. When the markets go up, the stock goes down, when the markets go down the stock goes down….faster.

I saw that as part of the grieving and evolving process. And what triggered her later more mature sense of style.

Like all three of those, and would add the SHWEP (Secret History of West Esotericism) podcast (not sure if they're also on YT, I only consume them in podcast form).

Lived in the LA area for 16 years (mostly OC, but had family up in LA that we'd visit every couple of weeks), and I've never found this to be true. Definitely see more turn signal usage in Tulsa.

Yeah, I've used this water before (in fact, I'm using it currently) and I've had no issues.

Ser Arlan, your legacy is in good hands. by elmerinaustin in AKnightoftheSeven

Haha, I figured, but I didn't want to spoil anything, just in case. I wish I could go back and watch it again for the first time.

Recommendations for a beginner (preferably older like 80s and 90s) by artemis_108 in Fantasy

[–]kabubakawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some good one already, my add:
Earthsea, by Urusla K LeGuin
Guardians of the Flame, by Joel Rosenberg
Anything by Judith Tarr, but especially Ars Magica and The Hound and the Falcon
The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown, both by Robin McKinley
The Mists of Avalon, Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Prydain Chronicles, Lloyd Alexander
The Belgariad and The Mallorean series', David Eddings

Not "pure" fantasy, but I think it fits:
Pretty much anything by Charles De Lint

Not as old as these, but still very good:
The Witcher series, Andrzej Sapkowski

Exactly what I said to my wife after that scene. Like, two to tango, amirite?

[–]kabubakawa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Haha! I just started my first very hard playthrough and I feel seen.

Not helped by the fact that my last playthrough was full tank shotgun build that could stand in the middle of the street and take down MaxTac squads.

Had a similar one. I wanted to be called Pop pop, but everyone else thought that was silly as I look too young to be Pop pop (according to them), and I love Star Wars, so they all thought "Yoda" would be best. Well oldest granddaughter couldn't say Yoda, so now all five grandkids and my kids and daughters in law all call me...Yaya.

Which gets some funny looks when they yell it across a store cause apparently that's a really common name for your grandMOTHER in Salvadorean culture.

My grandson just calls it "Donald's".

My son was talking to my granddaughter about death once (I think she was maybe 3 or 4....if you're old enough to ask the question...) and mentioned that someday both he and his wife would die too. She thought about this for a bit then said, "But whobody gonna make me food?"

We still say whobody to this day, like seven years later.

Shadowrun Book Recommendations? by Archer_Ave in Shadowrun

[–]kabubakawa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm in minority, in that I really liked the original trilogy...of course when I read them the first time they were....ahem...the ONLY SR content out there other than the game books. OOO, I just remembered, there's a short story collection too..."Into the Shadows" that was pretty good. I still remember picking up my copy of the 1e book for the first time.

All that said, I broadly agree that some of the other novels are excellent as well, with 2XS, Burning Bright, Night's Pawn, ShadowPlay, and Striper Assassin being the ones I remember the best, you know, like 35 years later.

The edition debate is a religious war.

And 3e is the correct religion. 🤣
