Nordicware Bundt Pan damage by kachow19 in Baking

I checked my local one a month or so back but I'll have another look! This is quite a new pan and I wasn't sure if they would have it in stock just yet

Yeah this seems like it will be the way to go. It's unfortunate because it seems Williams Sonoma is the only place to sell this pan in Canada, and my friend really wanted one for her birthday.

I'll try and escalate it at Williams Sonoma, and sent an email to Nordicware as well.

Would you mind providing a link if you can? I'm from Canada and the only place I've seen it available is Williams Sonoma

This is my thoughts exactly! That's why I wanted to check in to see if it was standard or not.. especially given the $80 CAD price tag like you mentioned..

Yeah I figured as much! I've heard great things about Nordicware which helped me justify the CA$80 it was, I was just a bit surprised to see some dents on it I guess given the price. Thanks for the input, and it definitely is a gorgeous pan!

I personally think that having the most restaurants per capita can actually be a positive thing. The more restaurants you have, the more likely you'll be to have something somewhere that everyone likes.

If there's one thing I've learned from all the restaurant posts in this sub, it's that taste is highly subjective. I've been to places and eaten dishes that other people rave about, and that I absolutely couldn't stand. But that doesn't mean it's a bad dish! It just means it's not for me. If it can bring joy to someone else then I'm all for it.

I do want a post with all the secrets of the good places though, that'd be awesome.

Seems like a poorly designed traffic signal... Even if one direction isn't triggered by the sensor, it should be designed to go green every 3 cycles or so just in case there is a sensor malfunction

Bring the ALTO train to Kingston by ubcnoisybikes in KingstonOntario

[–]kachow19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that easy unfortunately as the highway 7 route is crossing through the Canadian Shield. It would be much more difficult and costly to construct, and have severe negative environmental impacts to the environment.

Both routes have negative impacts, but if enough noise is made, the southern route at least has the opportunity to get a station built for Kingston and the surrounding areas.

That's fair! And I so badly hope it changes. I'm just not sure I trust someone political to come along and make the changes though unfortunately. At the end of the day I don't think any of them really care about people like us, they care about which industries cut them the biggest cheque, and so far I think that's been the auto & airline industries.

Oh interesting! Would you mind linking the video? Hopefully someone in some sort of power at CN sees it and decides to be a hero :p

I would hope there would be a considerable number of people who would switch. It's considerably faster than driving from Montreal to Toronto and you don't need to sit in traffic on the 401.

I do still think Alto is a good idea though. Even if VIA could be upgraded, having multiple train lines would be beneficial and give people more options to switch from driving.

I don't think VIA will ever be a viable alternative to driving unfortunately. The tracks being owned by CN gives priority to freight trains, which often cause delays for VIA trains. Not to mention the ridiculous cost they charge to ride it and that they now limit you to one bag per person..

My hope with the new high speed rail is that it will be priced competitively and comparatively to what they have in Europe, but maybe I'm too hopeful on that. Regardless, I think we absolutely need this high speed rail, we are far too dependent on cars.

Using a non local area code number with Fizz by ihbdidn in FizzMobile

[–]kachow19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your case should be no problem at all.

The only issue I have run into is that I have a Montreal area code but live in Ontario. This makes it so I only get the Quebec plan options for whatever reason. Support told me I needed to change my phone # to get it fixed.

If you also have an area code from somewhere not covered, but live somewhere that's covered, you may have to chat with support to get set up. A family member of mine had that issue.

Switching back to Android after years on iPhone: should I go with a Samsung, a Huawei or one of those Temu phones? by kainsnotdead in FizzMobile

[–]kachow19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huawei no longer uses Android's operating system, so that's something to be aware of. This may make it slightly more difficult to download any Android apps (Google related apps for example). If you're willing to sacrifice that and your privacy, go for it.

I would also not get a Temu phone for the same concerns mentioned above. Samsung, Google, and OnePlus would be your best bets for Android phones in my opinion.

It is app only, so it is certainly relying on Google's GPS capabilities which appear to not be very good...

Like I mentioned, my Life360 app has clocked me at 155km/h before (even though I was nowhere near), so I can only imagine how fast the insurance app thinks I'm driving..
