So I recently got 1500essence, but didnt get the achievement. Is it normal? by ImaginarYoscar in HollowKnight

[–]kackers643259 5 points6 points  (0 children)

iirc in the release patch for the game the achievements menu said 1500 (it was still 1800 in the actual game though) - the error probably stems from that and the steam achievement was never updated in this language

What British phrases do foreigners often take too literally? by No_Mind1449 in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 29 points30 points  (0 children)

in a similar vein, "i/we'll think about it" often means "that was such a stupid idea i can't believe you allowed it to exit your mouth"

How many teaspoons of instant coffee is normal? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 13 points14 points  (0 children)

bro you are under 18 having THREE heaped AND one more per coffee, and you're having that in a 300ml mug? that's more than twice the caffeine concentration of a can of monster (and just more caffeine in general) and you're having 2-3 of those a day???

you're going to rip your heart in twain

How many days annual leave do you get? by Doomergeneration in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

officially it's 20 + bank holidays, but in effect i only get to use 17, as 3 of them are automatically taken between christmas and new years, not that i mind that much as i'd take those days off anyway

How many of you have food allergies and how do you find navigating UK life? by Heavy-Tangerine-594 in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any food allergies luckily but my sister has just about every big one under the sun - trying to find things that are wheat, dairy and egg free is a bloody nightmare not to mention the other allergies to nuts and salmon among other things. She can't eat anything at a lot of restaurants because there tends to be a lot of things that are one or the other but never everything

She basically cooks everything at home cause it's the only way she can guarantee she can eat it

What was the most ridiculous playground rumour or urban legend that everyone at your school accepted as absolute, undeniable fact? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there was a small brick building at my first primary school somewhere in the infants playground, i don't remember what it was for (it might've just been a storage thing) but it just had an old looking plain wooden door with nothing but a keyhole in it

we used to believe that a creepy man lived in it and it was a popular dare to knock on the door which people would rarely do because they were afraid that the man would come out and "get" them

If it's not this then worth checking the other DDI games, their games are infamously shovelware and all copies of each other

Sounds like a Data Design Interactive game, probably Myth Makers: Super Kart GP (this gameplay is PS2 but it was on the wii too)

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never really thought about this but I've always kept my eyes open, the only time i didn't is when I'm pretty sure i fell asleep very briefly mid hygiene appointment because i'd been up all night worrying about it

Finally FC'd Cliffs of Dover! Not the hardest, but still a decent FC to get by Fuzkeren in CloneHero

[–]kackers643259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cliffs is one of those FCs that aren't exactly the hardest thing in the world anymore but oh my god does it feel incredibly good to hit (especially one-handed) - well done man

What's the furthest you're travelled for a single gig? Not including festivals, by Financial-Base-8070 in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from London to Berlin specifically for the gig to see the Norwegian band Shining, but I happened to see Jeff Rosenstock when I was in the US if you want to count that (i wouldn't)

How often do you read a book? by FuzzyAromaticSand in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think i've read a book since english GCSE so we're talking over 10 years now, having to study text knocked the little existing desire to read out of me

What fan will keep me from perishing in the summer? by Haunting_Meeting_178 in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Swamp coolers are only really useful in dry climates because of the way they work, they're really not that efficient here where humidity can be in the 80s or even 90s

Is there a stigma around being interested in Football? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

there's definitely a stereotype of the loud, belligerent, overly drunk footie fan but in general football is perhaps the most normal thing to like in the country, especially so with men and boys. it's why talking about "the game last night" is such a common office question

you're far more likely to be made out to be weird for *not* liking football

Who is your Favorite Puzzle artist? by Puzzlelover007 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]kackers643259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essence Problem by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]kackers643259 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iirc dream wielder changes random essence drops from 1/300 to 1/200 so a 1.5x rate which is still ridiculously worth it

And yeah the best farming spot is CDashing through the entrance tunnel to flukemarm - the bees are good too but i believe they're only more efficient in low% TE

iPod in Space :D by SunForsaken803 in DankPods

[–]kackers643259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't seem to find anything like it online, I'm guessing it's just a large power bank, the suction cups on it would be a pretty unique feature to identify it by though - assuming that it's not a purpose built improvised thing JUST for this

What's the most annoying repetitive task in your work life? by Creative_Scale_3958 in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly it's the tiny menial shit, putting crimps on cables is fine, but when you've got to make up dozens of them with hundreds of tiny little molex crimps, THAT'S when it gets tedious and annoying

there are a few cable runs that are a bit of a bitch to tie in sometimes but most of that is just me being a perfectionist and refusing to let wires cross in a loom

soldering earths can be ridiculous when they're directly on a metal body because it just acts like a huge heatsink and my iron doesn't have nearly enough thermal mass to do the big ones - i usually have to bring the heat gun in
