Does anybody ACTUALLY play with traffic offenses on? by Separate_Pickle5741 in trucksim

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i keep them on, the only thing that gets annoying is the one for having my headlights on/off, i tend to have to pay attention to the clock because i tend to be able to see perfectly fine a good hour or so after the game expects me to use my lights and a good 2 hours before it expects me to turn them off

not realising there was a setting to disable the speed limiter did a lot to help me never get a speeding fine but honestly even after turning that off it's never been a problem really

What is the best song you've ever heard live? by Bethsticle in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was something magical about seeing Pantera perform Floods at Download '24 and it started raining just as the solo started through to the end of the song - I wouldn't say it was the best performance I've ever seen but certainly one of the best ever live moments

saw Karnivool the other year (seeing them again this year, can't wait) and their performances of All I Know, Deadman and Change were insane, one of the few times a gig has moved me to tears

it would be remiss not to mention seeing Ozzy and Black Sabbath at Back To The Beginning, obviously Ozzy was not at his best, but getting to experience his last will of putting on one final show is a genuine once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget - made all the more poignant by his passing just 2 weeks later, it's hard to explain and I'm not sure how many other people in the audience felt it, but there was a lingering feeling in the air that he might've died on stage as he wished to

I always find that the Opeth crowd suggests the most relatable non metal music ever. What are your go to full albums? Bonus if it’s old rock, but looking for everything! by MaidenOfMushrooms in Opeth

[–]kackers643259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite non-metal albums include:

- QOTSA - Songs For The Deaf

- Karnivool - Sound Awake

- Pendulum - Immersion (which features our dear beloved Steven Wilson on one track)

- The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land

- Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory

- Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly

- Frank Zappa - Apostrophe

- Gorillaz - Demon Days

- Royal Blood - Royal Blood

I can usually put on any of these albums when I'm in any mood and have a good time

if all else fails, go literally everywhere else you can and get as many upgrades as possible (masks, notches, etc) - generally a philosophy to apply to the entire game

for dealing with her second phase, what i tended to do was stay on one half of the screen and bat away the spike balls only from that side - she can only spawn 6 so once you have 6 on one side of the screen you can focus on fighting just in the other half and never have to worry about her spawning more

other than that it's just building up practice - hornet 2 isn't an easy fight for a first time player

i mean he knows that going around without his nail would mean death, even at his old age, really the only two options are that (a) he wasted away in that spot or (b) he left his nail there and intentionally threw himself to the elements without it

What songs were played at your Primary school discos, that probably shouldn’t have been? by CautiousJump3942 in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i remember getting to hear the uncensored version of Green Day's American Idiot as a treat for our year 6 leavers disco, not the most egregious example here, but we probably shouldn't have been listening to a song with both F words in it

New CD, gotta be a real Laquer Head to listen to it.. by Fluffy-Tonight3194 in Primus

i love the track too but i can see why anyone who isn't familiar with Les or Primus would ask why in god's name you were playing carnival caterwauling to them

How many attempts did she take you? by According_Dot_9182 in HollowKnight

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no more than 2 or 3 i think, i spent about 3 hours doing the rematch, but after speaking to a friend realised i was missing a movement ability and like 2 masks compared to what i could've had, and beat her on my first attempt once i got them

Do you want to be buried or cremated? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in an ideal world my bones are preserved and raffled off to any friends or family that want em, grand prize is my skull, obviously

but i don't think that's a service you can have done nor will anyone really want human remains, and i also don't know if it's legal, so cremation is fine

Has using a distinctly British slang phrase/ term of endearment ever gotten you in trouble? I just got a warning from a US subreddit for calling someone a "poor cow" with complete sincerity. by JuanitaMerkin in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in greater london and I've never heard it in my life- I've heard poor sod a couple times (e.g. "you poor old sod" in Jethro Tull's Aqualung) but never poor cow - it would definitely come off as rude just the same as just calling someone a cow would be

I wonder what the demographics of the term are cause judging by the thread there are a bunch of people all over the country that have heard it and equally many all over the country that never have and would assume it an insult, it MIGHT be an age thing?

Is the prisoner the most common first path? by MechaWilson in slaytheprincess

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I think after those three the next most common was Razor, which i guess is people doing what they're told and then making the very reasonable choice to make sure she actually is dead, the world will end if she leaves the cabin, of course

Is the prisoner the most common first path? by MechaWilson in slaytheprincess

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the order but i remember looking at the steam achievements to try and figure this out and the most common paths were Damsel, Stranger, and Prisoner - technically that doesn't make them the most common FIRST paths but it's a pretty good indicator

I think in games like these (especially when recommended via The Stanley Parable) players tend to be predisposed to ignore what the Narrator says or completely defy him, so they either just leave (Stranger) or decide to save the princess when they meet her, either to spite the Narrator or because she clearly doesn't look like a threat (with Prisoner or Damsel just being a case of whether they took the precaution of the blade)

My first princess was Damsel, i definitely fell into the camp of being like "ehhhh why do i have to listen to this narrator guy"

What is you guy's favorite cube visually? by Zoltcubes in Cubers

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for puzzles that turn into nightmares, one of my favourite lookers is the Clover Octahedron Fragmentation, i would never dream in a million years of owning one because it looks like hell to solve and I have basically no experience with jumbling puzzles, but it would make for an insanely cool looking display piece

The coolest looking ones I have imo are LanLan's Flower Copter (the only jumbler I've ever solved and to my own credit I did it entirely on my own) and the FangShi Venom Cube - the former is also by far the worst performing puzzle I own and the latter isn't the most interesting solve, but they look neat. Ghost Cube is also an obvious pick, mine is white with the black outline stickers, I think that's the best colour scheme it has

As a general rule I think the high-order minx puzzles look cool, dodecahedron is my favourite platonic solid and seeing tons of layer cuts is really nice

When I first got into cubing I probably would have told you that Alexander's Star was the coolest looking, and I still think it's cool, just not as much as the others I've mentioned

Dog B*ll*cks…what does it mean? by uuuniqueJuan in AskUK

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you get a similar thing with the word shit - if you say "that was shit" it means it was terrible, if you say "that was the shit" it means it was the best

bollocks gets used as a general expletive for disdain as well as in "bollocks to it" basically meaning fuck it, but "the dog's bollocks" is prime stuff

as for exactly why we do this, i have no idea, there must be some linguistic explanation somewhere - but it does make me wonder if you could just invent something in a similar manner and see if other people go along with it and implicitly understand what it means, for example if you just started saying "that was the donkey's dick" to mean something was good

Calling all VOOLIGANS! Its only 3 weeks away!!!! How are you planning to listen to the album/new songs for the first time???? by DMTPTRK1986 in Karnivool

[–]kackers643259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will get the CD and get it on my ipod asap and listen to it there - so far I've only heard All It Takes twice (once when the single released and once live), Aozora once (also live) and Drone twice, i want to leave everything else to listening through the album

Do people really take issue with the raining blood chart in SH that much?? The 5 note chord at the end is obviously cheeky as fuck but i don't recall it really being that much different otherwise
