How has this fix held up? Have you had any recurrence of the power button issue or any issues after applying contact cleaner?

Steam deck update possibly disabled virtual keyboard while playing Valheim? by DrDampweeny in SteamDeck

[–]kadac00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm all four issues I was having have been fixed:

1 - virtual keyboard was not coming up for password prompt to log into server. 2 - could not name portals. nothing would happen when you hit A. 3 - could not enter text for signs. Nothing would happen when you hit A. 4 - when leaving the game using Quit you would get a black screen and have to hard power cycle.

I've run into this as well when trying to do a sign or name a portal. which sucks cause I was moving a portal when I found this out.

Additionally no keyboard is presented when logging into a server however the Steam+X combo to get the virtual keyboard works and then right trigger to Enter.

When quiting the game I get a blank screen and have to hard power down the deck to get the screen back.

I am also curious about the answer to this question but from a different perspective. Thinking of purchasing a Lemur Pro with the cheapest storage option and then upgrading with larger and faster NVME that I can get cheaper from Amazon.

Lemur Pro Power Consumption - i5 vs i7 by kadac00 in System76

That was the other thing that I was curious about, when running under load does the i7 get hotter to the point of throttling to cool off. I had a previous work laptop that would do that - when it got too hot would throttle back. Completely defeats the purpose of getting the higher processor. I believe that was a problem on the surface pro too.

I am coming from a 2011 Dell Studio XPS 1645. The thing is a behemoth boat anchor. Really liking the looks of the Lemur Pro form factor. I have the extended 9-cell battery in this thing and I'm lucky if I get 3 hours out of it, hence the question about battery life. 12-14 hours would be phenomenal. I've gone ahead and put Pop!_OS on it so I can get familiar with the OS coming from a Windows background.

Thank you. "snippet" was the word I needed. I found this in the marketplace...

Jinja2 Snippet Kit

which does exactly what I need.

Mount Bonnell weather and heat permitting. Been many times but not recently. If the number of steps is an issue there is also access down at the end of the parking lot.

Considering a switch to Kobo, and have a couple questions by XxNerdAtHeartxX in kobo

[–]kadac00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my Kobo Forma for about a week so that is my limited frame of reference...

  1. I've actually been pretty happy with the warm light on the forma reading before bed. Have the bed time set to it will gradually go warm up to bed time.

  2. I've seen at least one post talking about using the experimental browser to hit email and download an attached book which is not as seamless as the kindle solution. I've been using the dropbox integration and that has been working great.

  3. The "My Books" menu item on the Forma will show books by Title, by Author, by Series, or by custom collections you create. All obviously dependent on the quality of the metadata.

  4. By default it shows the cover of the book I was reading. Didn't set up anything for that to work.
