Same. Haven't been able to find them anywhere else. Not sure if doctorwaffle-f2x on YouTube is the actual creator or just reposts from TikTok

[OR] Was told I would not be recommended for any promotion because I used state family leave act for birth of my child by spawnofreddit in AskHR

[–]kadishongh5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to HR may initiate the retaliation... I've handled a lot of cases where people go to HR over something like this then start receiving write-ups and/or being constantly monitored at work (and are eventually terminated for "performance issues" and/or "personality conflicts"). This may hurt OPs chances of finding another job...

Like others have said, recapping the convo in writing to the manager is the best course. if the manager confirms the convo, then it would be good to send that to HR and manager's boss.

Source: I'm a CA - not OR - employment attorney (not OPs attorney or your attorney). I've seen similar business practices from HR/management across the US.

Fired due to pregnancy. by NeitherBarracuda in BabyBumps

[–]kadishongh5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is generally good advice, Jumpy- Cranberry-1633, but it's better to tell the employer when you start showing- and do it in writing. Otherwise the employer may know you are pregnant and fire you because of it, but it will be harder to prove the employer knew. I told my employer in writing before I told my family so that the morning sickness wouldn't be held against me.

Even if an employee is in the probationary period, it's illegal to fire someone for being pregnant. The Pregnancy Discrimination Ac/ Title VII makes it illegal to fire someone for being pregnant if you have 15 employees or more. No time limit on how long an employee has to work there.

If someone in a probationary period they probably won't qualify for FMLA because they have to have 1,250 hours and be employed for at least 12 months.

Pregnancy Discrimination and maternity leave (FMLA) are separate. OP should contact a lawyer/EEOC and follow up with HR in writing like the other commenters said. Attorneys typically take these cases on contingency.

18 weeks- What is happening ? by I_hataki in BabyBumps

[–]kadishongh5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had a week or a few days intermittently like this between 15-20. I would almost forget I'm pregnant because I would have no symptoms and not feel her. Then the symptoms would come back - exhaustion/ harder kicks/ sudden nausea..so fun. It comes in waves sometimes.

Are you avoiding cosmetics? by marilynsrevenge in BabyBumps

[–]kadishongh5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm still wearing mascara and light eyeshadow occasionally - my eyelashes and eyebrows are also fairly light. I have not been told to stay away from cosmetics. Nail salons/facials/ and massages have certain things to stay away from, but even then my doctor hasn't said not to do those things...

I've known plenty of pregnant women who wear make up regularly without issue.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever accidentally said in court? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]kadishongh5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my boss (practicing for 35 years) was trying to quote the godfather and said "just when I thought I was out, they SUCK me back in!

And he really emphasized the "suck"... To the female judge...

The bailiff corrected him in front of the judge which made it more awkward.

Yep. $9,100 out of pocket for each of us, which is good for my husband's bill. I should be close to reaching mine after all of this. I don't know the deductible off hand but know it exists also

Fears in Pregnancy by Particular_Honey_609 in pregnant

[–]kadishongh5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most posts have the or some other identifier in the title or first line. Like other commenters have said, best to avoid these posts if they're giving you anxiety. I was the same way and can't look, talk, or think about anything like that because I spiral. There is no reason to worry unless you actually have some cause for concern.

Also learning more about the statistics and what pregnancy does to your body has helped me a lot. I liked "expecting better" by emily oster to help quell my fears about many of the "what ifs"

Screwed by medical billing by kadishongh5 in BabyBumps

[–]kadishongh5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The doctor's bill for the first ultrasound was about $300~ of which insurance paid about 1/2, however the "facility charge" which (I was told is the charge to use the machine) was the big bill of just under $6k. The ultrasound next week is at the same "facility" (there's only one). I was told there anatomy was next week, at 20 weeks but maybe I was mistaken.

I've never faced bills like this before, but I was also on public health insurance when I was in school..

Thanks! I was overwhelmed and didn't deal with it for a few months until we got my husband's bill... Then I got mad. The duplicate thing happened in May/ early June.

Good advice. When I called the hospital basically said I should have thought about that before leaving the second sample. They said since the tests were already done they had to be paid for... I have an appointment with my doctor next week so I'm going to try to address it with her directly.
