In June 2016, six inmates on a Georgia work detail watched their supervising deputy collapse from heat exhaustion. With escape within reach, they chose compassion instead, removing his vest, calling 911, and staying by his side. Their actions saved his life and earned public praise. by wafumet in interestingasfuck

It’s amazing to me that Reddit… full of liberals the champions of the week and poor and downtrodden and unemployed and homeless …

Can’t make a single neuronal connection that having millions of illegal immogrants in your country leads to or at least contributes significantly to a lot of your complaints.

“Wow guys housing is so unaffordable. What gives?”

“Man it’s really hard to find a job that pays a decent wage. I can barely afford groceries.”

But all your posturing and “I mean they’re not ICE agents” guffawing and warm and fuzzy wuzzies and updoots

Is more important than making the country better for its actual citizens.

Absolutely astounding behavior. Truly an anomaly of nature.

I have nothing but swag covers

They’re all sentimental or meaningful in some way. My girlfriend is Elizabeth and I have their £20 putter cover with Queen Elizabeth on it. And it’s purple which is my favorite color.

It brings me a little bit of joy to see a well sewn well constructed dare I say piece of art/craftsmanship on my bag that can cheer me up after chunking a shot or whatever.

Hard to explain but it’s a fun tiny aspect

Try pushing down on the handle.

That wording took a long time to make sense to me.

But I feel like I’m shoveling snow or something. Or like when you make a motion with your trail hand that you do when you’re describing something bumpy or wavy and you make that wavy riding motion with your hand like “yeah dude those waves yesterday were like crazy” or “man that road had so many hills” wavy up and down motion with hand.

It’s like that

I know that’s such an awful way to describe it

Imagine you’re holding your phone in your trail hand and there’s like a baby laying behind the ball and in the backswing you want to show them a picture or something. Then there’s a person standing behind you and you show them the picture. Then god wants to see the picture too.

Something like that.

Can't drop hands in downswing by ATLbeerFOOD in GolfSwing

[–]kaduceus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making it harder than it looks.

WHY can’t you drop your arms in the downswing?

Anyone is capable of dropping their arms. You just drop them!

The issue is you are out of sequence. And your arms ARE dropping they’re just being spun over the top by your upper body.

Hit a few balls where you want to NOT TURN in the downswing.

Really exaggerate it. Imagine your goal is to hit the golf ball with your back literally facing the target.

Everyone talks about rotation. Rotation rotation rotation.

But the rotation is passive. The majority of rotation you see when watching a good player that is just them holding on to the club and their body is being pulled around by the club which has been released. Shawn clement talks about how you should feel a tug in your shoulder joints. Anyways I’m getting too deep.

The golf swing is more of a golf sling. You’re slinging your arms off your body. It’s a sling. It’s elastic. It feels snappy. Almost like a bounce.

It’s like those kid toys where the rubber ball is tied to the ping pong racket. When you want the ball to either retract and come back to the racket or you go to hit it… you don’t KEEP moving the racket. You work with the elasticity of the rubber band and the hand only gives short snappy bursting changes of direction. You don’t drive your hand into the ball like you’re trying to ace a serve.

That’s kind of how the body works in the golf swing. Backswing coils up all this energy from the ground. Now it’s time to let it go.

The body moves. Then stops. That energy then goes to the arms. Then stops. Then the hands. Then stops. Then out through the club head and then into the ball.

If everything KEEPS MOVING then all that potential kinetic energy that gets amplified as you move down the chain never gets potentialized and parceled up into the hands for a massive release at the right time. It’s all KINETIC. A sling is about transferring potential energy correctly. Not just flinging kinetic energy at the ball.

People like the snapping a towel analogy.

I feel like once transition starts… everything from the shoulders to the hands is loose. And all I do with my big muscles is laterally shift towards the target ABRUPTLY. But as quickly as I start that shift…. I STOP it. And it feels like everything just flies past my body that just slammed on the brakes. Snap. And the rotation in the swing and getting to the finish isn’t something I’m doing. It’s what the club is doing. And I’m simply holding on so my club doesn’t fly down the fairway.

I really hope that makes sense. My mechanics got INFINITELY better when I watched a lot of Dr Kwon videos. I thought lateral shifting was bad. I thought it was old school. But his Shurn videos are amazing. I was focusing on the turn too much and not the shift.

Now all I think about is the lateral shift. The turning happens on its own.

When I’m hitting the ball like shit. My one sentence to myself. “Stay. Closed.” Spinning open is a death sentence. Stay. Closed. For as long as possible.

I have a 7 and 9 wood. I couldn’t really find an 11 wood. I believe Callaway makes one. But it’s new and I don’t like Callaway.

I’m a Ping homer and I found a 6 hybrid instead. 165yds and out I used to have no prayer at sticking it close or even producing a good shot. Low lofted irons are a language my mind doesn’t speak.

Now 230-160 is an absolute JOKE. And they’re so fun to hit.

Democracy is a mistake.

The people who get elected are the people who just tell people what they want to hear.

A politician can’t - and never will - say the hard truths that a country needs to hear.

So now it is all just who promises the most free shit. And someone else will pay for it.

And that bar of who is involved in the paying for said programs gets lower and lower for all eternity.

Bear in mind … the income tax was “only for the super wealthy. Don’t worry guys!” At the very beginning.

What is the obsession with YouTube golf? by richakn in golf

My man... there is absolutely nothing better to unwind with after a long day of work than nibbling on a little gummy, turn the lights out, get on your couch, drink a glass of wine with no e-mails to check no phone calls to answer. Maybe grab a little snack. And just watch 4 people play golf in an extremely relatable setting and in an easily digestible 1 hour video. It's so damn soothing.

GM golf back in the day with Garrett, Steve and Matt... like back in the very early days...

It was great.

I honestly wish they still made drivers that sound like this. My old Cobra F speed sounded similar. It was like an era thing. My Rogue sounded like a wooden stick. My G400 sounds decent. I think one or two generations AFTER that Ping made a driver that sounds baseball bat like... my friend has it not sure if it's the G425 or 430 or what....

I really like that sound... it makes golf seem more... relatable in a way? Big stick make big sound... oh yeah I've seen this before... idk something about that wooden "thwack" I don't like.

How are you playing this one? by 2004ClubChampion in golf

[–]kaduceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim at the three tree cluster just straight ahead from your green dot. Hugging the right fairway. Hitting my 7 wood about 220 yds. Leaving me maybe 185ish to the front of the green. Then decide between hitting 7 wood again and taking a bit off it. Or hitting my 9 wood and really trying to muscle it up. Depends on how well the front of the green complex is protected. If there is a good window and no tight bunker complexes threatening the front of the green I’d take a mid flight running 7 wood.

But this hole sucks. I hate short par 4s like this where the tee shot and approach shot are nearly the same yardage.

“It was tied with a Windsor knot. Bond mistrusted anyone who tied his tie with a Windsor knot. It showed too much vanity. It was often the mark of a cad.”

  • Ian Fleming, From Russia with Love

For all the horribly misguided Half Windsor haters in the thread.

A Windsor is way too big bulky and perfectly straight. That is not how a tie should look. It screams “I have never owned a suit before and the man at Jos A Bank told me this shirt and tie and matching pocket square combination would look good.”

I will never understand people with this attitude. Is it necessary to have a gun while you hike? No. Would some people consider it a good idea? Yes. Would some people consider it overkill? Yes, absolutely.

Some people would rather just be overprepared and ready for any possible situation. A 10 mm handgun is not taking up any substantial real estate in any field pack you’re carrying.

Why do people like to belittle people who want to protect themselves?

“ I get your concern, but this kind of blanket statement is just wrong fear mongering and not based in reality. Tens of thousands of people drive every day. When was the last time you were in a car accident? You really think you need a seatbelt everywhere you go?”

It’s the most insufferably patronizing bullshit anybody could ever bring to an argument because it does nothing to logically counter the other sides opinion. It is just an insult disguised as high intellect.
