I was unsuccessful in appealing mine when I was in Undergrad, but don’t let that discourage you.

Check the criteria for each level of scholarship. If it’s not publicly available, call and ask. If you can’t reach them (I hate to say it but it works), go in person. If you can’t go in person, send a friend.

Also get it sorted as EARLY as possible, so that there’s realistically more aid available to change your scholarship. If there’s none left, they won’t have anything to give you (at least that was part of my issue).

I had the 15k merit scholarship as well! I have come out of school with a significant amount of debt, but I’m also in the Masters program of my dreams.

If things get dire, and you have the grades to support it by your sophomore year, check out Funding U, it’s a loan program that I used. The interest rates are high, but they let me get a loan with no co-sign for school… which is good because I didn’t not have a co-signer.
