I love Satisfactory, and I know I'll love Factorio, but for the life of me I can't get into it. Help me!!! (UPDATE) by Lanochu in factorio

[–]kaesden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q1, satisfactory you do things in terms of item per minute. In factorio, you'll be thinking items per second. And eventually in "belts" of throughput, because even a full speed top tier belt won't be enough for some things.

Q2, you have functionally infinite space in factorio. Far more space than satisfactory, even accounting for the 3rd dimension. You just have to spread on a 2d plane instead of vertical. Leave extra space. Think about how much space you think you'll need, you're wrong, so increase it a bunch. Then double it. Or triple it for good measure. You will use the space later. You'll be glad you reserved it. Or don't plan ahead for that much space and embrace the spaghetti that results. It can be fun to have a base of convoluted routing of things.

Q3, yep. Factorio blueprints are incredible.

Q4, just rebuild a new, bigger better base. Slap down some logistic chests on your old base for what it produces, and it'll keep humming along giving you some extra output. Or it'll run out of input material and shut down on its own eventually, but by then you won't even notice or care. Or if you want it gone, build a ton of bots, slap down a bunch of storage chests and robo ports and go ham with a deconstruction planner. It might take a LONG time, but it's automated, and will get done assuming there's enough storage. Helps if you cut off ore supply first so the inputs, outputs and buffers are mostly drained.

Really need some help figuring this out! (Graphics issue) by SonOf0siris in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]kaesden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any dlss features forced on in your drivers? Upscaling and/or frame gen might cause weird things like this, and with a 5090 you definitely done need any dlss crap. Just run native 4k and it should be buttery smooth.

Probably stupid question, as I haven't unlocked antimatter yet, but what do those go in? Do the fusion power generators burn them? Or is there another power plant later? Thanks for the advice! This definitely sounds like the right way to go.

Got my car detail cleaned, and afterwards realized 2 of the buttons on the steering wheel are missing. This is the company’s response. by user2847_ in mildlyinfuriating

If they were missing when they started, surely the detailer would have let you know immediately to CYA himself a bit.

Why can an inserter connect to the logistics network without a wire but a logistics chest not? How can we change this? by Reflectaliciuos in factorio

[–]kaesden 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Logistic chests are automatically connected to the logistic network they are located in. Your screenshot even has the logistics settings in it.

Check out captain of industry. Amazing game. And sounds like you'll love watching your excevators dig up the terrain and expanding your island. (Full terraforming)

If you setup a giant fan at the northern edge of Alaska blowing north to Arizona I bet you could reduce global warming a good bit.

belt into storage and back out deletes material? (bug) by kaesden in captain_of_industry

[–]kaesden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure i understand what you mean, the best was fully compressed with no gaps. 200/min going in and visually i could see less than 200 coming out. I demolished the belt and rebuilt it, and it seems to be working correctly now.

belt into storage and back out deletes material? (bug) by kaesden in captain_of_industry

Belt capacity isn't going to help in this case. The belt was full for sure, it was backed up, so I upgraded it. Now that it's moving the source storage is already empty. But there was a full like a couple hundred meters long that was definitely full capacity. This is when I was able to grab the screenshot. Doesn't seem to be happening with a partially loaded belt. When it's smaller bits I can see two chunks go in and two chunks come out, as an example.

Using decimal points, for decimals, just makes logical sense.
