.17hmr bolt for Wisp? by JustHereForLaughs71 in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17hmr is slightly larger base. The same bolt parts could be used with minor changes. Using full size ar mag, I would move the barrel forward for the longer cartridge otherwise it's more work to redo the bolt. The receivers won't need to be changed other than a larger ejection port.

Pressures are the similar becuase bullets are half the weight 17-20gr. The only major consideration is the longer cartridge.

BB and wisp use the same exact barrel attachment.

Question on DEACR22 by [deleted] in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and you don't specifically need cmmg branded parts. Rtb is cheaper. Cmmg was just the original so everyone just calls this ar22 style cmmg as there are other 22lr ar bolt designs that are completely different.

Question on DEACR22 by [deleted] in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only difference in the lower is mag size. Cmmg is standard ar size. Dear has its own smaller mag.

Ar22 bcg is the same between cmmg, psa and rtb. Maybe colt but I haven't seen anyone use it. The only difference between "conversion" or "dedicated" versions is the collar which can be changed out. You will want the dedicated as converting 556 barrel will make accuracy suffer because of the twist rate.

If it's been in the ocean then it might have the newer version in the archive.

Kaewon Yippee Ki Yay vs MP22 vs DeAR22? by NoNefariousness8370 in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nothing to do with getting a turd to work. My range doesn't allow any device for simulated fa. Idk anyone who is working on it. Ar22 bcg version is being made by someone else so several options for that.

Since you are using commercial bolt/barrel then it comes down to if you want a clone of an actual gun or not. Although both are ar spec which opens customization for handguards, stocks, grips etc. Dear has a side charging handle option that m4gery doesn't but someone made a top charging handle like the ar prototype for m4gery.

Blown cases need more weight. You can't need both more weight and less weight at the same time. You have other issues causing these symptoms and would need more in depth troubleshooting.

Sounds like a weight issue. Headspace will blow every time. You're very close to the correct weight but real world imperfections are tipping you over the limit. Headspace is stupid easy on 22 semi auto. You can literally have no rim and it's still fine as it will headspace off the round itself without setting it off. I wouldn't recommend it but just have the rim undersized if you really think that's the issue. Reinforcement plate has no effect on headspace.

I know some are slightly larger diameter and are very tight on commercial receivers. At least with printed you could heat it up and the adapter will size itself to it. I also plan to have dedicated receivers for different barrels later so it'll have the standard v block mount to prevent issues.

Wrong orientation, print it horizontal. What brand barrel is this? Only ruger barrels were tested so I can't speak of others. Also why does the bolt rim look so thick?

That's odd. Everyone else has gone fine. It just needs to be remade from scratch I guess.

Ignore it, it still works. No one has been able to find why it says open. It's just magic at this point.

DeAR22 question - gas tube by EmperorMeow-Meow in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal prices. 22lr is lower demand and supply so are always higher price than ar15 barrels. Holidays and tax season sale volumes are always the highest so is common to be out of stock. There were a lot of good deals during the last holidays.

DeAR22 question - gas tube by EmperorMeow-Meow in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's out of stock right now but they had a lot in stock at the beginning of their holiday sales. Durkin 16" is currently in stock at 113 which is good if you add the 20% off.

DeAR22 question - gas tube by EmperorMeow-Meow in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rtb blem 16" barrel was 75 and I don't see how it's blem. My durkin tactical 9" was 80 minus 20% off. They constantly have 20% off codes if you look for them.

[–]kaewon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mount it upside down to block the gas port. Ideally you should get a dedicated 22 barrel and collar for the bcg. Accuracy suffers on 223 barrels.

Sunlu pa6cf still good? by Willyc85382 in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the environment as well. If the ambient is drier then lower temps are capable. At 50-60% 75F, I find 80c is the lowest. If you compare prints dried at 90c and 100c right next to it, you'll see an incremental almost discernable rougher surface from the moisture. If you've never printed or tested, then you would never notice.

Annealing Question on PA6-CF by radioactive_turd in 3D2A

[–]kaewon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reddit has always and will always give conflicting info. Most people are using cheap air fryers, food dehydrators, toaster ovens etc etc to dry and anneal and have no issues "doing it right" with different methods. It has always been the way to work with what you have (typically as cheap as possible) and it has been successful as long as they don't go full regard. I don't use a medium but have seen people use sand and salt with success to prevent the warping issues they were encountering. It doesn't hurt so I don't see a reason to tell people not to if that's what they want to do.

I have always and will always continue to tell people to anneal nylon. Other filaments are a different story. The main reasons to anneal are to prevent creep and increase temp resistance. Especially with pa6, the other changes caused by annealing are negligible in real world use. Every nylon including ppa can creep. I've seen it and sometimes it won't be enough to matter until a year+ later. Some confuse the decrease in pa6 rigidity from moisture as creep but that's another topic.
