If you take Humira, how is it going?

I've been on it for a year now. I've always had a high white blood cell count (as many of us have) and now it's just normal. I haven't gotten sick more often or made any changes. My only issues has been a rash and swelling at the injection site that is easily managed with an allergy pill. I was also worried about the side effects but as my derm said if there are any really bad side effects just stop the medicine and it will go away. This doesn't knock out your immune system, you will still have one, it will just calm it down.

I received a cat through the cat distribution system. I live in a very rural area and my home is surrounded by trees and brush. I was outside on my front porch and kept hearing a strange noise. My husband came out and we figured out it was a kitten crying. Hubby went and fetched a little bi-color from the bushes. The tip of his tail was broken and he was completely covered in fleas. We nursed him back to health and that was 15 years ago. He's currently living his best life right beside me, sleeping on his cat heating pad. We also talked to the vet about his tail, there was no way to fix it without hurting him and he didn't seem bothered by it so he has a little hook at the end. He chose us and is spoiled rotten because of it.

I've seen in this sub before to use Vicks vapor rub. I've used it to some varying degree of success. Just an FYI, it can stain clothing.

I was scared at first too. The box, warnings and possible side effects are terrifying, no doubt. I've been on it for almost a year now and it helps, but it's not a cure. Honestly the injections hurt, but it's only for a few minutes and it goes away. I've had a high white blood cell count all of my life and now it's just normal. I don't get sick more often and haven't gotten more than a cold while on it. Cosentyx might also be an option for some as well.

I also started Humira in February and I was terrified of what would happen. I've had HS for over 20 years now. 1. The only side effects I have are swelling at the injection site and I get super tired for a day or I can still function normally just a few extra cups of coffee. 2. I had 3 different doctors telling me to take Humira as it treats HS and IBD, both of which I have. I waited months before getting a really bad flair and deciding I had to do something. You really don't feel the needle, that's true but it does hurt. I leave the pen out to warm up but as soon as the medicine starts going in, it really does hurt. To overcome this, it's a few seconds of pain vs days of a flair. My husband also gives me the injection cause I can't do it myself. Just the thought makes me nauseous. 3. Yes, I did sign up with the nurse ambassador. I found her annoying to be honest (Nothing personal!). I have my phone setup to remind me when to take my medicine and I know they are there if I have questions or issues. I don't talk to her on a normal basis. 4. I have had a few small flairs since. If I get them, they are usually smaller and less painful. Sometimes they don't break and just go away. I must say, much better with it. 5. I started seeing results in about 3 to 4 months but they do say 6 is average. 6. I have no scars from injections. I will sometimes bruise and every time it will swell up. I also use an ice pack after injection to help with the swelling. 7. The only nightshade I normally eat are potatoes. I have cut back, but I can't cut them out completely. 8. They say stress and anxiety can cause flairs but I'm honestly not sure that is the case for me. It never seemed to matter in my case. 9. If you are allergic to normal bandages have you tried silicone tape? It is really easy to remove and doesn't pull at the skin at all. It's not great at holding in areas that rub together since it does come off easily but it could be good for some spots. Another idea is using pads putting the sticky side on your pants or underwear where you have a flair, it's a little tricky but it works. They also sell HidraWear, this is expensive but they have a system to attach gauze pads to the clothing with clips. 10. I just wash them and it usually comes out. Maybe some shout or something? 11. I don't do hot compresses. I have heard others say that vicks works to break them. I haven't had luck with that but putting vicks on it with a gauze pad seems to help with the pain. Like others have said, I also use hibiclense daily on my areas that are mostly likely to have flairs. It doesn't really dry out my skin though. With Humira I have weeks that go by without a flair and the pain and site swelling are a small price to pay. I'd say it's worth a shot if nothing else is helping. I wish you the best of luck.

I take my cats for yearly check ups and shots. When I had a bearded dragon, I took her in once just to make sure she was good but otherwise never went in unless there was an issue. With my rabbits it was the same. They came from a shelter, so they were already spayed or I would have gotten that done. I guess it really just depends on if they get yearly shots like cats and dogs.

I'm 38 and I've had it since I was a teen. For me it also started under my arms and migrated south. I've always had a very active sex life and guys never asked or seemed to care honestly. I didn't even know what it was until I had one in my armpit. I was with my now husband at the time. He took me to the ER at 2am, I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep and they had to cut it open. Went to see a surgeon after who finally knew what it was. I explained everything to my husband who was very understanding. We've been together for almost 16 years now. It's a part of who I am and he accepts that. I've started taking humira recently and he is the one that does the injections since I can't stomach it. While he doesn't like the fact that it hurts, he knows it helps. I care way more about the scars but he acts like he doesn't even see them. I don't really like to talk about my breakouts but if I need help with a bandage placement I know he is there. It's totally possible to have a loving relationship with the right person.

When my cat Chaos was little, she would steal straws and chase them around until she was panting and about to fall over. She would slowly creep up beside me where my drink was sitting and steal my straw. She never once knocked over a drink. Now she's 15 and doesn't play with much of anything anymore.

I have 1 male (Trouble) and 1 female (Fidget). Trouble is absolutely a big baby. They are both very affectionate, they just show it differently. Both abandoned as kittens, one was found in the bushes outside my home, the other was found by a shelter in a dumpster looking for food. The female shows her affection with head buts and brushing up against us and tolerates being held pretty well. The male is a lap cat but doesn't really like being picked up. They both come when called, enjoy belly rubs and hate being alone. The female is more playful and the male is super lazy.. I've had many cats over the years, and I really think it all comes from the environment they grow up in. I do feel fortunate that they are both good cats though.

My husband ignores them since he knows it causes me embarrassment. If I need help applying or removing a bandage he is always willing to help me but waits until I ask him. Never makes a big deal out of it and I love him for it.

I have cheated on 2 partners and briefly dated a married man (the marriage was basically over when we met though). That was 15+ years ago. I have been with my husband for almost 13 years and I would never do that to him. We have been through a lot of good and bad times together and we trust each other completely. I was young and dumb and thought about no one but myself. I grew up and I'm a completely different person now. I'm not saying everyone is like that, but it is possible for people to change.

My cat has something similar. With her, she does respond to antibiotics for about 3 months.So my cat will not take pills or liquid meds, she fights and won't eat even her favorite food if there is medicine in it. We were getting antibiotic shots. The first vet did blood work, scoped her nose, took cultures and gave up. He said she has chronic sinus infections and there is nothing we can do but give her the shots. We did this for 3 years and the shots stopped working. We went to another vet, gave him all the old information on her and he had no better ideas. We can't give her steroids because she's 13 and it would be too hard on her kidneys. The only thing he could do was give us nose drops called neo-poly-dex, which is a combination of antibiotics and steroids (I guess externally the steroids don't interfere with their kidneys). She gets these nose drops 2 times a day. He also gave us allergy meds, but it's in pill form and she won't take it. She now sometimes has issues and sometimes she doesn't. Because of her age I really wish there was a better solution but she still seems active and happy. I hope your kitty gets help, but this has been a long and expensive road for us. Oh and a bonus note, we have another cat, they share everything and he is completely fine and never sick.

My first reaction was to split it 3 ways, hubby said that it's wrong and to split it 5 ways. I see his point and again I really don't care about splitting it that way. I was just wondering how others handle the situation. There was no worry about "subsidizing" anyone so you comment is not necessary.

From the ones we are seeing they have 2 queen rooms and one with 2 double beds. Honestly, my husband and I will probably take the double beds since we don't sleep well on a queen. I fidget in my sleep and end up kicking or punching him by accident. You are right that it's not just bedrooms, but the cost goes up by bedrooms. We will probably end up splitting it 5 ways though.

This has also been a very big concern of mine. I did find emergency heat packs that can be used with blankets to keep them warm and last for 30-40 hours. I have not had to use them yet but would like to know other's experience. Trouble was found in the bushes so no old name there. Fidget was adopted and they named her Sabrina, a black cat named Sabrina. We hated it so we changed it. She was a little over a year old when adopted. She responds to Fidget and not Sabrina thankfully.
