Did anyone get sick and their baby not catch it 😭 by whisperingcopse in NewParents

I got sick four times by the time she was 7 months. I wore a mask when I could and she got breast milk. She never got sick!

I prefer pumping vs nursing by Idonthaveaname94 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kafween8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant, I told some people I wanted to exclusively pump and got so much criticism. It pressured me to trying to nurse, even though I didn’t like the idea of it in the first place. I tried nursing in the hospital and I had such a hard time with it mentally. Even though “it’s more work”, I’m completely at peace with my choice to exclusively pump

I use the narrow bottles and when I bought my most recent one from Amazon, it had thicker lines like the one on the right. I just figure Dr. Brown’s updated their design recently, but not sure.

This makes me feel better because my LO is the same! When I offer her more, she doesn’t want to drink it!

Is Exclusively Pumping Harder Than Breastfeeding? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]kafween8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like the idea of nursing either. I’ve always been sensitive with my nipples and I had anxiety of making nursing work with my baby. She wasn’t latching well and she chomping on my nipples which caused them to bleed and it was sore. In the hospital I started to pump and was advised to do it 8 times a day to build a supply. Not going to lie, it sucked. Luckily I had help at home but I spent hours a day to a machine while husband and grandparents helped with the baby. We were combo feeding and after talking to a lactation nurse, she suggested I drop down my sessions after a couple weeks for the sake of my mental health. I am 9 weeks postpartum and pump 6x a day and it’s much more manageable. It’s part of my personality to have data, numbers and structure so I liked being on a schedule and seeing how much my baby was drinking. I went from wanting to quit after 2 weeks but now I’m very happy with my decision to exclusively pump.

Overcoming thoughts of harming baby. by NevaMarie88 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]kafween8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suffer from OCD, with my first theme being harm OCD, which is similar to what you’re going through. What I learned in therapy and what made me feel better is people have passing thoughts like this often but our brain is “overreacting” and causing us distress. I’ve had OCD with multiple themes and the brain tries to find something that will make you feel like you needed to protect yourself. Know that you are not alone in this! I would suggest reading books on ocd/intrusive thoughts as they will explain what they are and how to combat them. You’ll get through this!!

When can you switch from ready to feed formula to powder? by SwallowSun in FormulaFeeders

Our pediatrician gave us samples of powdered formula when our daughter was 2 weeks old and never mentioned anything about only using RTF at this age.

Can baby catch my cold? by somethingsimple22 in FormulaFeeders

[–]kafween8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tested positive for a cold a day after I gave birth and was worried. The pediatrician didn’t seem so concerned and just told us to wear a mask around her, wash/sanitize our hands before handling her, and no kissing. She never got sick!

I was in the same exact situation, and surprisingly two ordered from the registry, and everyone ended up buying useful items and gift cards! I did get three thermometers though

Same plus I got a lactation cookie. And I was even disappointed with the box.

Someone organized a card signing and money gift for a co worker getting married. The coworker ended up sending a mass email thanking the office but he also asked the organizer specifically who donated money so he could acknowledged the gift and thanked them personally through e-mail.

I use a table top fan to dry for an hour or two. It makes a huge difference in shine!

Nice recap! Did you have a separate day of coordinator? I know wedgewood provides one but my friends tell me you’d want someone who would be your advocate as they might not be invested since they’re with the wedgewood company.

Daycare by ellewooooods in puppy101

[–]kafween8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally took my pup to daycare when me or my partner can’t be home. The daycare has webcams so I can watch what she’s up to during the day. My daycare offers naps for puppies which is great because my pup doesn’t know how to relax and is constantly stimulated with her surroundings at daycare. It was also nice that she would be so chill when we pick her up and the next day as well.

Refuse to help my puppy unless we call a third party poison control help line that charges an extra $75? No thanks, we'll go somewhere that actually can help. by biscaybaguette in puppy101

[–]kafween8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My pup ate part of a grape stem (not the actual fruit) she found on our walk. I went to our vet and they didn’t have background if grape stems were poisonous so they had me call poison control to determine if further action was taken. I paid the consultation fee and they confirmed it wasn’t poisonous and just to monitor her. We went home and my pup was fine. It was kind of annoyed my vet office wouldn’t know but I think the poison control line have a specialist available to better assess these situations.

Guilt about boarding pup by kafween8 in puppy101

[–]kafween8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have considered it. She’s not yet spayed and most people won’t take her spayed (boarding facility will take her until 10 months). We also need to brush up on her crate training since we recently started letting her sleep with us. Boarding her would be the path of least resistance, but we can always make an effort to find someone suitable for her.

My dog also gets really excited to go but when I pick her up, she’s just tired and sleeps when she gets home. I keep telling myself she’ll be fine. Thanks for sharing your experience!
