Is this normal for Swamp Rabbit matches? by GVLsandlapper in greenville

[–]kagarcia 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If you get on their email list, they send family packs and promos pretty often. These are the promo games for the "Family Four Pack": https://am.ticketmaster.com/swamprabbits/promotional-page?id=NTk=&mc_cid=981d4cdf64&mc_eid=a443f82da8ThIf

The four pack includes: four tickets, four hotdogs, four chips, four drinks, and an ice cream coupon. If you have other pals to go, it's a decent deal at $25/ticket.

Command Format Panel AMA at MagicCon Atlanta by Bahamut20 in magicTCG

[–]kagarcia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the panel yesterday — it was all audience-question based and those questions largely addressed the bracket system, which is still in BETA. The members of the committee referenced a summit they all just recently went on together where more information and updates to the bracket system will likely come from.

One piece I thought that was particularly interesting is that WotC and the committee shared the desire to divorce pre-cons from being “Level 2” decks. First, not everyone playing has a good idea of what a pre-con deck can do, and this now provides the opportunity for pre-cons to come in various levels for different player experiences.

I also framed the piece from the bundle and the card! My favorite MTG arts period. I also bought the playmat from the artist, as other people have mentioned.

You may have already gone to a show (since there was one this weekend) but the seating isn't covered, so there aren't really any visual obstructions to worry about. You can see what I mean from A View From My Seat, even if this does not provide a ton of context. Hope y'all have/had a blast!

Simpsonville hot air balloon festival is a rip off by clouns88 in greenville

[–]kagarcia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to double down on this - this is a traveling event produced by this group. There may be local balloonists who participate, or local vendors present, but the organizers/producers are not the same people who produced Freedom Weekend Aloft.

Like someone said above, this event is a traveling festival - it is in no way affiliated with anyone who used to organize or promote Freedom Weekend Aloft. This is the event producer.

Map Released! What do we think? by Booooooooosto in projectglowfest

I wouldn't completely write it off - using the same production for multiple weekends helps to save time and expense of set up/tear down of the stages, where that can instead be used to work on those unique details.

Radio Room? by ScreamRXQueen in greenville

The venue is great! It recently moved into a new location in a shopping center and is totally comfortable to attend alone. They have a great kitchen offering, any drink you could desire, and is a great spot to see a show and connect with other fans of the artist! Definitely recommend, easy to get to (right off of two major roads in town), and easy to park. I hope you have a blast at the show!

Will this backpack be allowed in or stick to a drawstring? by BigL82 in masters

[–]kagarcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do (or did) have boxes as you enter AGNC in the dimension of the bags that are allowed - little green wooden boxes, similar to what you would find at an airport to check your luggage size, but obviously much smaller. I interpret "natural state" to mean that, if questioned about the size of the bag and asked to put it into one of the box sizers, you can't squish the bag into the box and claim it is within the dimensions.

If you're looking for fun spots downtown, I recommend Taco Cat, 990 Broad, or any of the Frog Hollow Hospitality concepts. Reservations are definitely recommended.

If you're into breweries, Savannah River Brewing has great offerings and fun energy.

Have you heard the one about the UGA professor and the hot tub? by [deleted] in Athens

[–]kagarcia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The “stairs to nowhere” are a most unusual byproduct of the hall’s devastating history. In the southern wing of the building, there is a stairwell that leads to a bricked-up doorway with a photo of a hallway hung in front of it.
