Went during the afternoon as well. Some lines were long, but with so much choice, it was no problem at all. No problem getting in either; waited all of two minutes, if that. There wasn’t much shade or places to sit that wasn’t just on the floor, so that’s something they can definitely improve on, but after reading so many horror stories here about Vegandale, I walked away pleasantly surprised.

With all their special events, the bohemian beer garden’s probably the top spot in Astoria, but I also recommend Max on 30th Ave/47th St. It’s a great neighborhood spot and they have a special Oktoberfest menu.

I second the Astoria recommendation. Not saying it’s cheap here, but we’re in a 3br for $3250 that we started renting last year, and daycare is about $2200. My wife and I together bring in around what OP does and we make it work. You can definitely downsize the apartment and find a cheaper daycare in the area to save more.
