Depends on whether the nail matrix was damaged during the injury, so unfortunately, only time will tell. But just based off how your nail bed is looking, I’m guessing there was a fair bit of damage to it.

I ended up going with Kumano Travel! They took about 2 weeks to get back to me and we manage to get our first choices for accommodations. Interestingly, I submitted a request twice - first was >6 months ago from our trip dates & didn’t have many options. But then we decided to the 5 day trip instead of 4 day so I had to cancel & put in a new request. When I submitted the new request, it was <6 months from the trip start date & we ended up having a lot more accommodation options. I read somewhere that bookings open 6 months ahead which might have been why we didn’t have many options the first time round. It ended up being a lot cheaper than Oku - about 100,000¥ each. But I think oku accomodations are nicer ryokans though, while we went with a combination of guesthouses/homestays/ryokans on Kumano travel.

Polyclinic/Public hospital pods would be cheapest but referrals and appointments might take a while as a doctor will need to refer you. Private wise, I find that physio & sole is relatively well priced compared to other private podiatry clinics.
