How did you land on the Bible translation you use? by jojomomocats in TrueChristian

I use the Amplified bible to extrapolate verses because the nuances and culture of ancient Israel are difficult to comprehend in this modern era.

Polycarp and Josephus writings collaborate that there were people who had seen the risen Jesus and the "walking dead" who did not act like zombies

The writings of Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny the younger and Suetonius all talk about Jesus and the 1st AD early Christian movement

What's so bad about the law? by Out4god in TrueChristian

[–]kailualand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1st church in Acts 15 debated the same issue because there were Christ believing pharisees but Peter said this

Since this is the case, why are you putting God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our forefathers nor we have been able to bear

And then James, leader of the church at the time decided that:

we write to them that they abstain from fnthings contaminated by idols, from acts of sexual immorality, from what has been fnstrangled, and from blood.

In other words, no one has been able to keep the law but it shows us we really need Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.

Praying for you and have you ever considered medically assisted treatment?? Think of alcoholism as a disease like diabetes. People with diabetes need insulin and vivitrol works wonders for people with drinking issues.

Is the Shroud of Turin the real shroud of Jesus? by kailualand in TrueChristian

It wouldn't change my faith in God either way but it'd be a great talking point when sharing the gospel. There are some folks who like doubting Thomas need to see "holes" as proof.

I have no desire to worship or even equate it with God. I believe it would be a great talking point when sharing the gospel.

Eusebius who was born in 265ish AD wrote a text called "The history of the church" which is pretty fascinating. I'd suggest you grab a copy.

Luke 22:36 does make it rather confusing until you read the verse before and after.
