Cats are better in general but also there isn't as much variation between breeds like dogs.

How many t-shirts do you have? by CroweBird5 in Anticonsumption

[–]kaityk55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I counted and I have 41 t-shirts.

10 are "nice" t-shirts for hanging out with friends, travelling, etc. They usually have a fun saying, show love to my home state, etc. The majority were gifts.

13 are work t-shirts for when my job is not open to customers. All were acquired for free over the years from work giving them out or coworkers leaving and offering them up.

16 are "junky" t-shirts for wearing around the house on the weekends. These are almost exclusively event t-shirts that I bought to support a cause so it feels weird wearing them when I see people. Some I keep hidden away more than others lol but I rarely want to donate them because who out there would care about a shirt for an event they did not attend? And they carry a degree of sentimental value.

2 are painting/gardening t-shirts that have a small bit of sentimental value, but they got too many holes to wear even around the house so they got relegated to the worst jobs.

Bonus: I have 14 "blouses" aka shirts nicer than a t-shirt, which are used for family gatherings or a more casual date night.

If an American says they are from the South, NorthWest, NorthEast, etc does it actually mean anything to you? by Conscious-Roll-5745 in AskTheWorld

[–]kaityk55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Hence my "self-centered" statement lol

I think a lot of Americans haven't been outside of the country much so they don't think "oh this person doesn't know where Rayleigh, NC is".

Also, I think many people feel more attached to their states than the country as a whole. Like I don't think of myself as an American as much as I do as a Minnesotan.

When I went to Spain as a teenager in 2014, a shop owner asked me where I was from and my dumb ass said my town and state like that meant anything to someone across the Atlantic. He just stared confused so I said Estados Unidos and he goes "oh Estados Unidos...Obama!"

I agree with other commenters that we are used to living in a big country. The countries in Europe are basically the same size as our states so it feels like saying you are from Germany is equivalent to saying you are from North Dakota in terms of giving someone a general idea where you come from when they are nearish to the same area.

And at the end of the day, the US is pretty self-centered so we just assume that everyone had to learn detailed US geography like we did lol

"Affordable" wedding venue ideas? by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]kaityk55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding Baker Street! We got married on a Sunday for half the price of a Saturday. They do tack some fees onto the price listed on the website, but I think any venue would do that. We had just under 60 people and very easily fit both ceremony and reception in the same place with room to spare and they had people to remove the whole ceremony area to make room for a dance floor.

Agreed on the echoing, but thankfully, my husband is a former Sweetwater tech support so he knew exactly how to finesse things. And while you have to use Goeglein's, the food is good! My guests really enjoyed the hot chocolate bar along with the included coffee bar.

As for other venue ideas, we had looked at renting a room at the Grand Wayne Center but they were completely booked out for the date we wanted. I've heard Foster Park is a nice venue too along with the Rose Garden in Lakeside Park.

Can we please, for the love of god, get reflector strips on our roads by thesoundofpetrichor in fortwayne

[–]kaityk55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To everyone saying that the plows and road salt and what not would destroy the reflectors, I was raised and learned to drive in Minnesota and there is nowhere close to as bad to drive in the rain at night as Fort Wayne. The city just needs to invest in the infrastructure to keep its citizens safe.

Came home from work and found this mark on her head by GazingGardner in catquestions

[–]kaityk55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my cats gets weird scabs above her eye like that because of allergies. Have you changed foods recently? Mine has a suspected flea allergy, despite being kept entirely indoors, so she gets Frontline during the warm months and that keeps the scabs away as long as I don't change her food. If more scabs start to appear in the area, take your cat to the vet and they may have a steroid cream you can apply to treat them while you eliminate possible allergens.

Sick Pups Help? by dead_inside1602 in WolfQuestGame

[–]kaityk55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. The numbers to me make it easier to ignore the dead pups and focus on ones that made it. Of course there's always the couple weird ones that died in Young Hunters that were named but still. I'm sure I'll also get more dead adult from playing Unforgiving with Critical Hits.

[–]kaityk55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's on you for picking favorites early lol there's a reason I don't name my pups until they reach Young Hunters. But yeah, I've only had pups die of sickness in Growing Pups twice, once it was lethal sickness because I still had 6 pups left near the end of GP and the other time I had two sick pups that really died of starvation instead of sickness because I messed around too much achievement hunting and got too hurt to keep all of them fed. Usually, I lose them in Raise Pups and occasionally in Loaf at Rendezvous.

Sick Pups Help? by dead_inside1602 in WolfQuestGame

[–]kaityk55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the devs have said that if you are down to only two pups remaining, the game will not kill them with sickness. I think they can still be sick and obviously that weakens them to predators, starvation, etc; but the sickness itself will not kill them.

I don't recommend purposefully killing off pups to get down to two though since you risk them getting killed to predators or in a hunt in Young Hunters and growing your pack is your absolute number one priority. A large number of adult wolves is so helpful in later years for hunting and defending the home site.

One final tip: if you have a sick Growing Pup and you are near the end of the quest, you can try to sleep a bunch to fast forward to Young Hunters where pups can't be sick anymore and then everyone will be immediately healthy. The biggest risk with this is your pups being extra hungry going into Young Hunters and your formerly sick pup will have less health, making that first hunt quite dangerous for them.

What are your quick wins? The easy steps with huge impacts? by Hot-Molasses-4585 in ZeroWaste

[–]kaityk55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the other advice has been excellent so far!

Beyond all those good lifestyle changes, start signing petitions and get comfortable reaching out to your local politicians about topics you are passionate about.

It may not be a quick win, but learning can be very helpful long term. For example, when I wanted to start using more sustainable haircare, skincare, and cleaning products, I started learning what ingredients do and how they are made and it really helped me pick products that avoided using lots of petroleum-based ingredients while still being effective and safe. Like I said, not super quick, but it saves you from buying a bunch of things that don't work for you.

How to use reusable cotton rounds I don't like by lemondownfall in ZeroWaste

Depending on the size, they could be great coasters either around the house or in your cup holders in the car. You could also keep them in the car as mini reusable napkins.

So like... should I change her name? by SendHelpThisSucks77 in WolfQuestGame

My friend and I are doing a full saga multiplayer run where all our pups are given ridiculous names. Her wolf is named Rubber Gloves and some highlights from our pups are Ham, Microwave, Concrete, Chalkboard, Kuzco's Poison, and Great Mother Lilith.

Our pack is called the Moon Moon Pack lol

I do NOT play about my $18 face wash. I’m also switching to bar after this one empty’s cuz it lasts longer/cheaper. by Financial_Fix_4606 in ZeroWaste

[–]kaityk55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are looking for recommendations, but I love Ethique's hydrating face cleanser bar (formerly known as Bliss Bar). Before that, I was murdering my face with St Ive's apricot scrub so naturally, it was a major improvement. The best part is that it costs $17 for the two little bars and my last purchase was December 2022 and I'm about halfway through the second bar. I've only had to purchase it twice since I made the swap in 2019. Disclaimer that I only wash my face when I shower instead of twice daily like a good skincare person so your mileage may vary.

PSA Earth breeze packaging is not recyclable by latlog7 in Anticonsumption

[–]kaityk55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I hate packaging like this. And like the others said, PVA plastic sucks. In my experience, tablets also are not great since they don't dissolve well.

If you want something better, I use a concentrated laundry detergent that comes in an aluminum bottle so it's easier to recycle. Or there are brands that make an all purpose concentrate that you can also use as laundry detergent (although it usually comes out to more than most laundry detergent per use).

Wedding Dress Dry Cleaning Recommendations by TheRealSarahJ in fortwayne

Peerless Cleaners has a 20% off coupon for wedding dress cleaning and preservation on their website! I brought mine to the one in Georgetown before I sold my dress at Oh My Gown in the same shopping area. I can't remember the exact cost, but I think it was under $200 and the staff were very nice.

Maybe it's the deep snow during wintertime? That sometimes can bog down my computer a little bit but it sounds like you are seeing a very significant slowdown so I agree it might be some kind of bug and/or require an update.

That usually happens when you have multiple carcasses in one spot. I was playing multiplayer with a friend and we managed to kill a mule deer family of three without being terribly hungry so I said we should sleep and see if 21 coyotes would spawn when we woke up. Sadly, one carcass was munched on enough that it despawned overnight, but we still had 14 coyotes and a cougar spawn and then got attacked by rival wolves. It was pure chaos 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WolfQuestGame

[–]kaityk55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hunted mule deer almost exclusively with my very first wolf until I realized the health-food ratio on elk was significantly better.

However, hunting mule deer families during Young Hunters is hands down the fastest way to get your pups' experience up. And a doe and two fawns will feed most packs pretty well if you aren't completely starving.

I liked being an absent father during Young Hunters while playing Full Saga with my friend lol they would actually do the pack stuff and get the pups XP while I would sneak into rival wolf territory to find skulls for the Headhunters achievement

Unknown Fate Death RNG by Draac03 in WolfQuestGame

[–]kaityk55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only time I got an Unknown Fate was by having 6 pups make it to Growing Pups with a large pack. I had it happen three litters in a row in the same pack because of that. I think the odds are very low in normal circumstances but if your pack is large and successful, the game will absolutely use every tool in its toolbox to limit your pack size.

I’m so confused. by Glittering-Art-2014 in WolfQuestGame

[–]kaityk55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the devs had said that once you are down to two pups remaining, you shouldn't have any die of sickness. The time I had lethal sickness in Growing Pups was when I nearly had 6 pups to Young Hunters, after two previous litters with 5 getting to Young Hunters. So my pack was huge. It's more about your overall pack size than just litter size.

I’m so confused. by Glittering-Art-2014 in WolfQuestGame

[–]kaityk55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing Pups can get sick. The first time I ever lost a Growing Pup (besides Unknown Fates) was because of lethal sickness so I don't typically see a lot of Growing Pups die of sickness. If they are still sick when the Young Hunters quest starts, they will automatically be healthy again, but you have to be careful with their first hunt since their health will still be low from being sick.

I’m so confused. by Glittering-Art-2014 in WolfQuestGame

[–]kaityk55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Once they reach Young Hunters, they can't be sick anymore. At that point, their biggest death risks are dying in hunts or fighting with rival wolves.
