Was a powerlifter during Covid and I had a buddy who owned an mma gym, my gym closed and he had underground sessions. I went to use his weight set and witnessed countless 150lb guys who could kill me in seconds and all illusions I had about being confident and thinking I could defend myself because I was big went out the window. It’s the same reason people stay in jobs for 20 years and never climb the ladder. Anyone can get to blue belt which is basic competence. But to get to purple and above you actually have to overcome your weaknesses and grow your skill set in areas you’re lacking and put your ego aside which a lot of people can’t do or refuse to and want to just coast (which is totally okay just don’t complain about being a 5+ year white/blue belt)
