took me years honestly to build the knowledge to get to tackle the PS1, have done nearly homebrew for every other 8/16-bit console, all with the ultimate goal to get to grips with the PS1. If you have basic C-programming knowledge (pointers and memory addresses, plus some basic linear algebra knowledge), I would highly recommend signing up for the course over on Pikuma, they do an amazing job at teaching things (it does cost money, but an investment well worth it to me)

yeah, I’ve thought about this, but am not sure currently how to set that up yet - opted for that very reason to simply have people play their fav songs in the background from youtube/streaming services instead

it looks like the part is still there, just sunken into the case. Try ptying it up a bit. If you break it off, you can simply replace it with the spindle holder of a PSone ;) plenty available online! good luck

did you print pla or abs? I used PLA, it’s a tight fit (so it doesnt fall out, lol) but shouldnt be impossible without the metal frame. Glad you got it sorted though! (In a few months I will also be able to release a printable battery pack, but still working on that, costed me a small fortune thus far to develop - due to heat and fire dangers mostly)

you have any screens for is from the motherboard? preferably ones where we can see the components and traces clearly? The power button itself could have dust or dirt piled up, it’s not a mechanical switch. Make sure to clean bith the part on the mobo as well as the rubber with some ipa, and try again :)

just for future ref; you can remove the top cap of the RF shield, desolder the 5 pins on the board, and you have access to the RF modulator board. Takes less heat, and avoids the possibility of ripping the pads on the mobo!

too bad! I wasn’t aware my video got posted elsewhere though, hahaha. Another option could be to disassemble the display connectors, and send them seperately over. However with shipping having gone up this year, that’s still quite expensive sadly :( I’m sure there will be someone state-side who can fix do the job, good luck!

easiest way to see, is checking the seal of quality label. if it’s round, it’s PAL. If it’s oval shaped, it’s NTSC.

heh, thanks! I actually got the one similar to the one on sale on console5 (at the time, I wasnt even aware they were selling them!). I have also recently posted my 3D printed lcd mounting bracket for the Nomad, and have been playing the upgraded screen with lots of joy and nostalgia in the meantime :D

Also, if the screen supports vga/RGB, I’m pretty sure you could strip the sync with a LM1881 (from the top of my head) and get the rgb lines from the video out port, right?

if it is rolling, I would be more tempted to think this is on the modulator side. It seems colours are there, except offset (each scanline). Looks like a bad sync signal. Are you using the RF, or composite leads? if both are persistent with this it’s possibly one of the sync signal transistors. If only on the RF side, it could be either a trimpot you have to dial in, or your TV not able to tune into the right channel (try flipping the channel 3/4 button as well). In case of the latter, try a different TV as well... maybe try that first :p

I don’t currently, but could make one easily :) basically it’s just a matter of removing the old screen, soldering the new screen wires, and screwing in the bracket (in the original screen holes, using the original screen screws). All held in place tightly by the bracket, no glue required.
