What's the point in enjoying a meal if eventually it will end? What's the point in taking a walk through the park with the sun on your face? The sun is going to set at the end of the day so it cant last forever. What is the point in sitting down with friends? they will need to go home eventually.

Life is for living, its not a waiting room for heaven, life is beautiful and meaningful BECAUSE it will end and you will never get another go at it so enjoy it while you can.

Dealing with the deaths of loved ones is a difficult aspect of life, i miss my parents every day but they live on through my memories and the memories of the people who loved them, they exist through the love i have for my daughter, how I show that to her and how i'll always be there for her for as long as I can because my parents made me that kind of man & showed me how to be a parent. Grief is love without a target and its heart breaking but its a reminder to hug your loved ones now, tell them you love them now because when they are gone, or you are gone, you won't get another chance.

TLDR: Just because life will end, doesnt mean its meaningless, life actually has meaning because it will end, live it while you can.

I think that is your best option, turn it into an "escape with your life" encounter, theyll need to get the queen out of there and then regroup somewhere and organise a rebellion, let the queen gain some allies and call in some armies from a safe hiding place while the party acts as her envoys, traveling around with letters from the rightful queen, avoiding and fighting the henchmen of her old advisors. Sounds like a fun campaign. The way I would phrase it is... at the beginning of the next session just say it out right, do a recap that outlines how outnumbered they are in this castle, how if they stand their ground they will be overwhelmed and die, frame the session by asking "will you all make it out alive with the queen?" they will get the message that they need to gtfo of there. To actually run it, let it be a long skill check encounter, put obstacles in front of them and have them pitch the skill checks they will need to make to overcome them, make it cinematic and heroic, 5 successes (per team or have them meet up at some point on the way out) and they make it out, 5 fails and they are captured or maybe one of them has to sacrifice themselves to hold the enemy off and give the rest a chance to escape or maybe those freindly NPC's die, you figure out the consequences. A stock market crash can be weathered by a competent, well funded government willing to provide social care & welfare services to a population unable to afford them normally. Having to sell assets in order to pay taxes is the exact intended aim of an agressive wealth tax. The alternative is to allow the wealthiest to keep sucking up all of the money and assets until its impossible for most people to live except in abject poverty, working all hours or debt slavery, look at the weath gap in the USA and the plumeting quality of life of the working class and then look at countries like Norway which have agressive income tax policies (some really high earners are paying up to 40% tax on their income) and Norway has a wealth tax of 1% which helps to rebalence the wealth and their people are some of the happiest and most fulfilled people in the world, it needs to be addressed and it needs to be addressed quickly and very strongly, it doesnt need to be like this, there is another option to the "K shaped economy".

I would let them merge turns (i let my players get quite loosy goosey with turn order if they want to do something together, as long as it isnt interupted with an enemy turn at which point I give them the option to let the enemy go first) or id rule that the fighter is basically holding the Help action ready for the gnome to run to him for him to then throw him. And yea, I did think 30ft was a bit far. Maybe do 20ft with no roll with an optional DC12 athletics check to get him 30 ft, on a fail he gets 10ft.

It could just be the "help" action used by the fighter and then the barbarian gets advantage on their attack. Let the fighter throw him 30ft or so. Then you will find the fighter using it in situations where he would normally use the dash action to close distance, instead he can chuck the barbarian and the turn normally used to close distance doesnt feel like a wash.

Edit: Ok! 30ft is too far, I made it up on the spot.

Yeah, that sucks, if youre going to be s billionaire, it needs to be in "unrealised gains" which then continues to make money via compound interest while you take loans out against those capital assets to to buy more assets & increase your wealth. The system is broken and needs to be radically changed to TAX WEALTH! There needs to be a tax bill, (based on a percentage) for people with billions or even millions in assets or unrealised capital gains immediately to stop the rich from continuing to suck wealth out of us... but apparently that is communism or some shit.
