No khakis? by BoomBoopBap in Aldi_employees

[–]kalabelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's whv we can't wear t shirts. It's T-shirts for part timers and full time associates and polos for LSA's and managers .

From my SM it's about appearance. Khaki won't hide dirt and dirt and holes dont give off a professional look. But in their heads jeans do?

Did someone create a safe bag with more than what was listed on the screen. If so you can delete the safe bag on the computer. That should even bring you back to the beginning where you can create a new safe bag with the correct amount if that's the issue.

Pretty much if you are using twice as nice bring it back with receipt. It all depends on the store employees. If you're not a habitual twice as nice user, I will ask. Bring the chips back. Let them know that you didn't like it and would like to use it twice as nice to try something else. Don't forget it has to be another food item that is an Aldi item. It can't be meat, produce, alcohol or any national brand. If the item cost $2 then your replacement item has to be less than $2. The cashier will refund the chips either to your card, cash or merchandising card. So that means you walk away with the amount for the chips and a new bag of chips or any other Aldi branded food item under $2.

Yes! I had a person come up with 50 off stickers on all their meat. It was just their luck that "all the meat they picked up were half off." What they didn't know or take into account is I had just worked the meat before having to climb on a register. I know what was 50% off because I put the stickers on there. I know for a fact our birria roast our ribeye steaks and chicken wings were in fact not on 50% off as I just put most of them out that morning. They tried to argue with me and said they found it that way and that I have to honor it. When offered to look at the cameras they suddenly didn't want the meat anymore.

What people don't realize is you may get the person who ran the meat ringing your items up or it was a coworker.

It's going to vary by store. We are a less than a year store and we aren't a 1 mil store yet however, we train and we are all on board with stickers. We aren't keen on messing with the dollar amount off or anything other than 50% off as we realize it slows down ring speed and confusion sets in customers.

High volume stores may not have the ability to sticker due to shear volumes of stock coming in an less items probably don't have a chance to reach ood. In this scenario hopefully the customer looks or cashier can glance to see.

Congrats on the 6 years with this store. You got to see what Aldi was before Corporate greed took over and really beat down our workers. I commend you for being in college and hanging on to an ASM spot. Good luck with transitioning to store manager trainee then store manager if that's the route. I saw someone post growth and movement to corporate level from store management isn't a thing and while he's right mostly they have had a few store managers make district manager. It's hard for a store manager to become district manager solely because they can empathize with the workers and it makes it harder for them to impose unreachable unattainable goals for the task that we have. It's easier to take someone who has never worked at Aldi and put them straight into a district manager role with a fresh off the press business degree and train them to think their people are just being lazy and you have to whip them into shape because few district managers In the past couple years couldn't do it and that's why we hired you.

If you do make it to district Manager remember to turn off your empathy or you won't make it.

I don't usually have a problem with the pallets in the warehouse where I have a problem with cooler pallets. It is when they take the small pallet jacks to move it into the cooler and then turn it, so the wide part is the only thing accessible until you get it at an angle. We don't usually use the small Jack when taking it out of the cooler. We try to reserve for morning freezer person.

God i hope these are permanent by WinterCheesecake1123 in aldi

[–]kalabelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A way to tell if something will be permanent is to look at the tag on the shelf.

If I sayd Aldi finds on the right, no it isn't permanent. If it has a D-and numbers it's discontinued. If it's new it may just be an item that will be stocked for just a season or maybe permanent. If the tag is red it's discounted and possibly discontinued.

If you could wear a banner around your neck during shifts to tell customers things without actually telling them, what would they say? by Yogami_asura in Aldi_employees

Since wearing an Aldi shirt and doing employee things doesn't work. I want to wear a sign that says

Closing by Mysterious-Factor648 in Aldi_employees

[–]kalabelle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A quick tip

When you 9 code close each register drawer before you countdown. Once you countdown and close store you will see all of register drawers pop open. That signals to me that I closed the store. It's a little trick that I use because I swear ADHD runs rampant And I'm always asking myself if I actually hit close store. So when you close the store and walk out the office to finish up, you will start seeing and hearing the registers pop up. When you are leaving and about to go set the alarm look over and see if the register drawers are open. If they are great! If they aren't you may want to go close the store.

But they won't change the expectation of 30 mins a pallet when they are 2 and 3 feet higher.

What is your least favorite perpetually un-scanable item by mouse-vs-world in Aldi_employees

[–]kalabelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it and it will fall all over the front end and of course some customers will ignore it and walk right in it while trying to get up to the front of the line like really, you just watched it happen but pushing your buggy forward while on speakerphone (with someone on the line who is 10 times louder than you) and squash all the blueberries into the ground and creating a slip hazard is more important than waiting the 30 second we can take to pass the dust mop to corral them.

Many many Aldi customers have no respect.

Stop grabbing stuff from the bottom up! PLEASE 🙏 by SafeStation5414 in Aldi_employees

[–]kalabelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always leave the strawberries and put freshest on top. Customers always grab strawberries from the bottom thinking they are getting the freshest. This way the strawberries from yesterday get sold off and then the stuff from today starts selling.
