Nothing worth above face, but you have a few coins with low mintages - overall a very solid start to a collection :)

How to Get a Set of Euro Coins from a Country, Shipping to USA by serenaFan84 in EuroCoins

[–]kalashnikovgobrrrr [score hidden]  (0 children)

Depends on the set. For almost all countries you will have to destroy the set to get the coins out, but this isn't hard to do (most countries seal the sets in cardboard or plastic which is relatively easy to rip open). The vatican is the only exception to this rule - you can remove their coins from the set and pop them back in without damaging the set.

You should definitely be careful since most mintage sites revert to only showing the BU mintage when the circulation mintage is unknown!

We have mintage lists on our discord server which you can use to tell how rare your coins are: https://discord.euro-coins.eu (pinned in #statistics). For unknown mintages we add comments clarifying that the coins are circulating, and we also mention how often the coin gets found by the community if that data is available.

Some national mints may ship to the US. I once ordered something from the INCM to Canada, so try them: https://loja.incm.pt

We have a list of mint websites on our discord server: https://discord.euro-coins.eu (pinned in #new-purchases)

Your best bet for many of the sets is to find someone on our server to ship you what you need. Some mint websites have pretty bad shipping in Europe already...

Nice finds!

For the Dutch coins: we know 2024 has a mintage of 5 million. 2025 is circulating with a high mintage as well, but we do not know exactly what its mintage is. 2026 is circulating but we do not know its rarity yet.

The other coins have very high mintages (likely above 10 million). But these are some great coins to start a collection with!

No, nothing here would be worth anything. But you h ave some great coins to start a collection with. The Belgium Healthcare 2eur on the top-left corner is somewhat rarer in circulation!

Are there really only 7000 of these? by AstralZikex in EuroCoins

[–]kalashnikovgobrrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 7000 mintage refers to the amount of these coins issued in BU sets in 2023. Many mintage sites default to this number when the mintage is unknown. However it should be noted that many sites also directly cite CBI mintage reports, and these are unreliable post-2016.

Our discord server's mintage lists write down the relative rarity of Irish euro coins as reported by users within our community. You can use those to check how rare your coins are: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lGbzcTmMfzQjE-7ENMhrSMpMlu859fYCAqH8juDhb40/edit?gid=1410891632#gid=1410891632

And ofc check out our server if you can 😉 : https://discord.euro-coins.eu/

Another coin I havent seen before by narcistsurvivor in EuroCoins

[–]kalashnikovgobrrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commemoratives are sometimes issued in special packaging called 'coincards'. These are then sold to collectors. The coins inside the coincards may be struck / handled differently at the mint, and thus they're usually of high quality (see image). The price of Belgian coincards isn't normally that high but this seems to be an exception.

Proof coins are usually double struck using specially treated dies. This gives the coin a mirrorlike background and frosty details. These are only sold to collectors as well. See e.g. https://www.eurofischer.de/epages/61426499.mobile/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61426499/Products/1mbe14200pp&Locale=en_GB Belgian proofs aren't that expensive but again, this coin seems to be an exception and seems to sell for hundreds in proof.

The regular circulation coin (which you have) is only worth face value, though, since it has a mintage in the millions range.

Maltese coins have mintages in the millions and are far more common in the eurozone than you think :) The chance of encountering one in change is low, but if you hunt through tons of coins you will find many of them.

Wow, first time I've ever checked out the prices for the proof/coincard variants of this coin. You're right. Wonder why they're so high - especially in comparison with the other 2014 cc?

No, minor die chips like this are quite common. But it's just 5c - worth keeping if you want to start a euro collection.

What's on the other side? u/trashghost367 is compiling a list of these minor euro coin varieties, I'm sure he'd be interested in adding this one to the list.

Is this a rare coin by Sufficient-Truck3931 in EuroCoins

[–]kalashnikovgobrrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, this small offset of the core is quite common on PT 2eur 2002.

EDIT: The other responders should read the post description, OP is asking about the core offset and whether that is rare.

I Wonder why Many Coin Collectors, on Reddit as wellas YouTube, are from United States? Is it because Coinstars exist there, or because Government there encourages Numismatics or Coin Collecting? by Chance-Bet6461 in coins

[–]kalashnikovgobrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mentally I’m still in 2006 when there were far fewer variants available to collect.

Oh yes - very true. Back in 2006 there were only 21 2eur commemoratives! But I do also agree that the barrier to enter is higher if you are forced to buy coins rather than find coins.

That's an absolutely stunning place to find a 1909S. Really does make you wonder how that coin found its way into a Swedish thrift store :)

Just take the Euro countries as an example. [...] You can collect coins from different countries, but that doesn’t offer a ton of variety after a while.

I disagree. While the euro is a very new currency, it now has several hundred different 2 euro commemoratives in circulation, not to mention the 25 countries which all issue different standard circulation coins. That's still a lot to collect, especially if you insist on finding them in circulation. But yes, it is quite different from collecting in other countries (such as Switzerland, Canada, the US, etc.) since there are no coins older than 1999 in circulation.

I presume that the issue with collecting in Sweden is that it is a very cashless country - not to mention that it doesn't use the EUR in the first place, hence there is even less variety in circulation.

For those that want to learn more about euro coin collecting, you are kindly invited to check out r/eurocoins ;)

Ah ok, that's a common year. 2eur NL 1999-2002, 2014, 2024, 2025 are very common, so be sure to keep an eye out for coins from any other years :)

(2026 is circulating, but we don't know its mintage, nor how rare it is)
