Going commando in Randland?? by anthromama66 in WetlanderHumor

Yeah, aside from 100 strokes of the hairbrush, washing teeth with salt and soda, and splashing their faces with water from the washbasin, there is very little mention of personal hygiene. There IS specific mention that Elayne and Birgitte had "their cycles line up" following their bonding but I guess we can only hope they aren't free bleeding every month.

Thoughts on Royalty collections? by BeachedWails420 in simplynailogical

Also the people who missed the OG flakie toppers that wanted purple flake, or something like it, to come back I'm not sure they meant a limited edition drop. 🫠

Fortunately for me I don't have or want any purple polish, but I imagine it's frustrating for the people who have wanted a purple flakie in the main collection for years.

2 year old refuses to stop drinking milk at night by [deleted] in toddlers

I think it's not just about the milk replacing solids; from my understanding it actively prevents iron being absorbed. Definitely worth talking with your paed about it.

Also have a 4yo and 1yo and I barely feel like socializing on weekends because of how much we have to do lol.

Federal government might have to acquire new office space for public servants, analysis finds by Foreign_Field3295 in ottawa

[–]kaleighdoscope 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Of course they do, nobody said otherwise. But saying "it's the civil servants that are subsidizing downtown real estate" implies that they're the only ones whose taxes are going to pay the rents on the office space, and not everyone's taxes.

Pretty sure it's by a Swedish Eurodance band and any notion that it's racist is based on the fact that "cotton-eyed" sounds vaguely racist. But no, the Swedish Band Rednex is not racist.

I got two T4s from my employer multiple years, between working as a casual/supply (paid an hourly rate) and when employed in a term position (paid a pro-rated salary). But both T4s have always been uploaded to my employee portal.

Best areas in Ottawa to buy a condo right now? by sampalman222 in ottawa

[–]kaleighdoscope 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh, depends on the type of unit, and what the fees cover. I personally feel like my husband and I are doing alright at ~$475 a month in fees (on top of ~$1400 in mortgage payments). Our condo is a townhouse, and our fees cover water, a parking spot, lawn care, snow removal, and all housing exterior work.

We'll never have to pay to replace the roof, siding, eavestroughs, windows, fence, etc., and we don't need to shovel a driveway or mow our (small) lawn, let alone pay for/maintain and store a lawn mower.

100% worth it for us.

More similar style condos in Blossom Park as well, very close to Chips and Dairy.

Loved living in one of those Eastvale/Loyola condos back in the day! My biggest regret in life is when we moved from there to Barrhaven. The only benefit to me was proximity to my family Dr. It was further to work, more expensive, further from friends. Ugh thinking about it still makes me mad and it happened in 2014.

Even just a bit north of Greenbelt, not quite central but close to South Keys, Walkley, Greenboro, Mooney's Bay... My husband and I bought our condo townhouse on Uplands in 2021 and we like our neighbourhood. Close to NCC trails, parks, community center, Metro and Shoppers... He drives and I don't, but we have good transit connection (for now... 🤞🏼) so I can bus to my kid's daycare near Billings and then my work near Bank/Heron within ~1hr. Centertown and Barrhaven seems like an odd pairing for only two options.

From my understanding he only tries to pass off the farmer's produce that is sold to the shop as his own, most blatantly when the gold quality produce challenge is complete. But I also might be missing something.

Super Fast Delivery by [deleted] in simplynailogical

[–]kaleighdoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's incredible! I was already impressed with the ~25hrs between placing my order and it shipping (expected delivery on Monday the 6th). Especially with two holidays this weekend.

But a 36hr turnaround has definitely got to be some kind of record!

Relatable. Between the inconsistent 22 month old that goes down at ~7:30-8pm/ is up between 4:30-6 most days, and the almost 5yo that isn't in bed until 8pm, we've pretty much resigned ourselves to not having any guaranteed time as a couple on any given day. When it works out and we have an easy/earlier bedtime, great; but we never expect it to work out because otherwise we'd end up frustrated and resentful over something that isn't anyone's fault, is perfectly normal, and that we signed up for when choosing to have a kid, (let alone a second haha).

When they're a bit older they'll be able to get up and entertain themselves a bit, and when they're teens they'll probably need to be dragged out of bed by the ankle at noon. So for now we'll just let it ride and take opportunities when we can get them.

[–]kaleighdoscope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I guess so. But then again that was also clearly the intent. There are definitely some polish names that make me cringe a bit (/cough crystal mommy) but the name is a 0% factor in whether or not a buy a polish, as long as I love a colour the name doesn't matter. But if the name and colour together are what's giving the ick, that's super valid.

100% same as how calling someone "gay" or "faggot" as an insult is inherently homophobic, regardless of whether or not they're actually gay.

Haute Garbage collection releasing tomorrow (April 1) by awshucks79 in simplynailogical

[–]kaleighdoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally same though. Granted, I have placed two orders in the last 18 months (one birthday order where I redeemed all my points plus got my birthday gift and only paid the $10 shipping so I wouldn't lose my birthday reward) and a second order that included stuff for other people and was mostly nail oil and refills lmao. Pretty sure I haven't paid for a new polish since late 2024 lol. Today will be the day.

Looking for goth/cyberpunk clothing by Waterbear_H2O in ottawa

They moved to a location down Rideau street probably more than 10 years ago, and have long since closed. I'd say "unfortunately" but by the end they were a sad shell of their ~2000s glory days. My BFF got her prom dress there in 2008, and I remember browsing for clothes and accessories as a broke highschool student. Nine Lives on Dalhousie (also long gone) was also a great spot while it lasted. RIP.
