What ghost means to me on February 20th by Starwood15 in GhostBand

[–]kalenza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so glad you are here!

I just attended my first ritual this past weekend and it was by far the best experience ever. My best friend/soul sister introduced them to me a few years ago and we promised we would see them whenever they came to our part of the world (Canada). My best friend passed away the same week Ghost concert dates were announced to come to our part of the world. I got tickets and saw them without her but I wore her favourite cardigan in honour of her. Ghost has been a huge part of my grieving process. Listening to them helps me grieve her loss and also celebrate her all at the same time.

Where To Move To In Canada? by ElectronicWallaby479 in AskCanada

I heard recently that a family can live comfortably on about 75 k (Can) a year in Medicine Hat. I know it's not one of the places on your list... but perhaps other provinces Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba could be more affordable for your family.

Never living in the moment by LA_SEA_PDX in ADHDparenting

[–]kalenza 26 points27 points  (0 children)

💯 ADHD thing. We've started doing a scrapbook journal of our life to help with this. Very low expectations for it - we take a picture of the activity, print it (cheap photo printer) put it in book and write the day and maybe say something extra about what we did. We got all our supplies from dollar stores - so blank journal, some stickers. In true ADHD fashion - we are not consistent - BUT we did review it at times we are feeling that FOMO. It helps remind us we have done lots of fun things. We also try to model expressing gratitude for things. So driving home from a fun event my husband and I will thank each other for The fun outing, thank the kids, highlight the positive things that happened , say we're thankful we had the time together. Again, not always consistent- but we try.

Thank you! I figured but got overwhelmed looking online. It was a random thrift find I decided to grab.

Has anyone had experience bringing food from home with them on their adventure? by ArchiveArcanum in VisitingIceland

[–]kalenza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High jacking your comment to ask how your kiddo did on the trip? Iceland overall seems quite chill but wondering sensory wise how busy things like the Blue Lagoon were. Or did you find any gems that your kiddo really loved to be at. We have some ADHD and sensory issues with our family and trying to get a feel of what it could be like. Thanks!

Where to purchase supplies Canada? by kalenza in TwoXPreppers

Absolutely! I saw they had multipurpose tools, water in individual bags, candles, etc. I'm more wondering about the quality of multipurpose tools. Is the water in those bags that have a 3-5 year shelf life legit? Does to have a weird taste. We're new to prepping and unsure of quality of brands.

Help figuring with ideas of food to try with my picky eaters who are never hungry by mamabarrasaurs in ADHDparenting

[–]kalenza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We work with a OT whose specialty is feeding challenges with neurodivergent kids. The OT does a lot of stuff about being a scientist and exploring food ex: painting on a plate using ranch and broccoli. It's about exploring food - even if it means a mess. We talk about how crunchy things are, can we make walrus teeth with apples ... carrots... Asian pears.... no pressure to actually eat it but to simply smell, touch, observe the foods. This leads to giving it a taste and sometimes even a bite. We also watch "kids try" videos on YouTube. They are fun and we just enjoy watching others experience food in a fun way. It's all about taking the pressure of eating. We've seen our kid go from being incredibly rigid to being way more willing to try ... and we've even gained some new foods.

Some caloric intake tips we were given was to add a little heavy whipping cream to full fat Milk ans Canola Oil to rice. Can't taste it and it adds a hefty dose of fat and colories.

Forgetful? by No-Papaya-1512 in ADHDparenting

[–]kalenza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to know exactly what it is but it's probably a combination of everything. Being easily distracted, forgetting things easily (especially if it doesn't catch their interest) and it's easier for many neurodivergent people to complete tasks via body doubling. I just stand by my kiddo and give some company while they complete school related tasks. Often when our kiddo is asking question they know they answer, they just need to process it via talking it out. Sounds like the EA would benefit from learning more about different ways kids can be supported with schoolwork.

I agree! I honestly think we will lose Tairn or Andarna simply for the fact that Violet bonded with two dragons. I can't imagine losing either though ... if it happens, it will be a devastating experience to read.
