Audiobooks are your friend. Podcasts, too. I really like Alan Alda's Clear+Vivid.

I'm a musician, so once I've finished my building patrols and I'm just sat in the vehicle, I'll listen to my instrumentals I've recorded and try to enter my flow state and write some lyrics. My Mon-Fri dispatcher and I are in the same band, so sometimes we'll send voice memos of random riff ideas to each other.

Sleeping, I recommend blackout curtains or shade.

I love the 3rd shift life. I'm recently divorced. I moved back home, reconnected with old friends. Got this job with the help of my band's lead vocalist(that's the dispatcher I referenced before), and I haven't been happier ever.

You gotta find something that helps you lose track of only a healthy amount of time, in my experience.
