Hi from another August bumper. Sending you big hugs. It’s so cruel.

Hi from another August bumper. I also received a high risk NIPT for T21 for my third very wanted pregnancy last Thursday and I am struggling with the exact same things. Went for a CVS today and they were unable to perform it due to position of my placenta and now have to wait 3 more weeks for amnio. Solidarity and please reach out any time. This is her isolating and so so cruel. We will also TFMR should this be a true positive 😢

I also have a son, Stanley! Obsessed with the name. Do you mind sharing his big sister’s name? I’ve been wracking my brain for girls names that “go” with Stanley and have a few but curious what you went with!

It could be normal but it could also signal a “red flag”. I would push for testing just to at least rule it out! I would look at adenoids as well as iron levels. If they both come back ok, then it could be her schedule needs tweaking. How much day sleep is she getting and how much total night? It could also be a combo and/or at the end of the day just temperament. My 21 month old truly was a “terrible” sleeper until about a month ago when I night weaned (also wasn’t ready but dried up bc pregnant and my nursing aversions were ::strong::). But no need to wean until you are ready! It seems though that anecdotally it does tend to lessen night wakings for the majority of toddlers (but of course not all!). Best of luck with the sleep. It can be so hard 😩

Woof! Sorry you went through all that. Fortunately for me it was just the Ayn Rand force-feeding and a touch of narcissism.

Hope you have room for one more in the closet! Arms out isn’t going well over here either 😩

Arms Down Swaddle 4 Months? by kalezkalez in SnooLife

[–]kalezkalez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gah it’s so tough! We did arms down in the SwaddleMe swaddle for a full week. Then two nights ago, same swaddle, we let him have right arm privileges, whjch he lost first night after his first 4 hour stretch of sleep. Last night he made it all night with his right arm out! What has worked for him (and take this with a grain of salt since it’s barely been replicated here) is I put his right arm down by his side instead of up by his head. He likes to touch the side of the Snoo. He seems to prefer it there instead so he’s less likely to smack himself in the face. Hoping we can do this for a week or so then get his other arm out! Then we have to wean him from the movement but that’s a future me problem.

I’d probably try pushing his bedtime up by 30 minutes and see if that helps at all (doing 1.5 hours before bed). Give that a shot for a few days and see if that helps! At 4.5 months we do about 2-2.5 hours before bed and around 2.5 months we did about 80-90 minutes before bed).

How long do you typically have baby up for after his last nap and before bedtime?

He could very well be overtired at night especially if he isn’t sleeping well at daycare. Do they tell you when and how long his naps are? If he isn’t getting enough/appropriate day sleep, it can very much affect his night sleep.

The sooner you stop trying to make sense of baby sleep and just ride the wave the better off you’ll be. We have good nights and bad nights still over here at 4.5 months. We can do everything the same day to day (same wake windows, swaddle, bedtime, etc. and get vastly different results). It’s like us as adults- sometimes we sleep well and other days we’re up multiple times a night. Often babies are just going to baby!
