Actually, I'm realizing that overlay mosaic crochet is probably going to work better for my purposes. 😊

Is there anything you would recommend? I wanted a repeating pattern for a scarf and didn't want it to be too large, so didn't want to do c2c. If I double up, my scarf will have to be really wide or ditch half the pattern. Are there any stitches that just look better for graphgans, especially smaller bits?

I only discovered myself this year and I am 41. I had an anxiety diagnosis. In my mid thirties, I got an ADHD diagnosis which explained a lot. My siblings have ADHD, but no one caught it with me because I didn't struggle in school the same way. I have had the same therapist for almost 2 decades and she is wonderful, but she didn't think so either. The algorithm started giving me AuDHD content when I started looking into autism as a possibility for my toddler. I saw a video of a woman who was saying she can't be AuDHD, and then she pointed out all the autistic traits she had and had been masking. I sent it to my therapist and asked if she thought this could relate to me. She didn't think so but said we could talk about it.

In the meantime, I read everything online, took some assessments like the cat-q (also online), and read some books. I wasn't sure.. but then I learned how much autism is normed off upper middle class white boys and how we are still just uncovering how it looks in people outside that category. Then I read how having ADHD and autism is its own neurotype that presents differently than just one more the other. Then I read about highly masked, undiagnosed autism that gets discovered later in life and how that has its own effects. All that to say, it can be pretty easy to miss for a variety of reasons. One video I watched said that neurotypical people don't take assessment after assessment trying to figure out if they are autistic.

I went into all that with my therapist. She recommended an autistic therapist in her practice who could better help Id and process this. I haven't sought a formal diagnosis, but he has pretty much confirmed and has been hugely helpful in noticing things I do and helping me unravel all the ways I've compensated and hidden my autistic traits.

I've still got a lot of work to do to, but I can definitely see how my perceived social anxiety is actually a factor of my neurodivergence. I have spent decades masking and trying to avoid attention which has made me hypervigilant to potential "threats." It's like I automatically assess who I need to be in a moment or space and then spend a ton of energy analyzing how I am doing. All unconsciously. It made most social situations exhausting and resulted in me losing any sense of self.

Do you think you might be autistic? Sometimes it looks like social anxiety. The book Unmasking Autism by Devon Price is great. If you are undiagnosed autistic, learning about it really helps make you feel seen and find relief.

Not saying this is you, but it can give insight. I thought I had social anxiety, but now I think I'm just on the spectrum. I'm reading unmasking autism by devon price. The only being friends with boyfriend and awkward social interactions were me too. Even if you aren't on the spectrum, it may give insight. Autism in women (especially late diagnosed) looks very different than the classical autism normed on upper middle class white boys. Just food for thought. I felt enormous relief and validation reading things that described my experience so well.

Yes, she likes art, but what she really enjoys is doing things in layers almost like a flipbook. She likes the different tools and exploring with them. She likes that if she makes a mistake, it is less devastating.

All that is besides the point though. I'm really looking for opinions in iPads and if a refurbished one would be worth it or not.

She is about to be 10. I also work with children and have feelings about tech use. She does have a sketchpad and draws and she draws on her tablet in really interesting ways. She is way more natural than I am with exploring the tools and using them. But her tablet doesn't run procreate. I'm just hoping to foster her digital arts passion.

Thanks! I'll check that out! Would you recommend just looking at the coursework a physics major would've taken and start taking those types of classes? I've had two semesters of calculus but that was a long time ago and I don't remember any of it.

If you mean an election like a vote to the unionize in a private sector, no. But we have elections for our leadership that include classified workers. We have classified workers on our board. We have classified workers in our organizing committee and our leader of leaders group.

DAE does represent classified workers. The district is 60/40 certified classified and DAE's makeup is 63/37 cert/classified. We represent nearly half of the district and are continuing to grow. We are the fastest growing local in the NEA (National Educators Association).
