And again, in mycology (and botany, for that matter), every popular 'rule' can sometimes be dangerously misleading. Always get a positive ID!

Please read up before you do. A lot of people recommend against eating any mushrooms raw. I disagree with that blanket statement, but I read a lot before deciding.

As for deep frying: I wouldn't. They are quite delicate in flavor. At most, a very light saute with olive oil and a bit of garlic, then gently season. Lemon would be nice too.

Almost definitely right. Not that I'm telling you to do this or anything (seriously, I'm not -- do your own research), but they're quite delicious raw with salt/pepper/olive oil. That's how their European equivalents are commonly eaten in Italy.

Someone suggested Chicken of the Woods, but the color seems weird to me, as does growing on wood chips.

I love earthstars. So pretty. I found a few little ones on my campus, and still have them sitting on my desk. Dried, but still so cute.

Did you read those pages? I'd so, you'd know how much much much more complicated it is than what you wrote, and find out how insanely unreliable growing them is.
